4 wheel drive not engaging

I had an issue recently with my 2015 SR5P not going into 4WD. I had been in and out of 4wD several times on patchy snow, then the 4WD indicator just flashed. It looks like it was repeating a fault code, but when I stopped to try to capture the code, it stopped. After that, the system worked normally. Any ideas?

The front axle splines have to align before it fully engages. Sometimes you just need to wiggle the steering while rolling for a few feet to get this to happen. It may have been rolling straight forward with the splines slightly out of line before one of the wheels slipped enough to engage them.

Sometimes stopping and driving in reverse will help
