The problem is that there are so many varying companies selling HID kit and a lot of them just rate their bulbs at what they feel the rating should be without any logic to it. As a result, one company's 6000k may not be the same as another company's 6000k and both may not be even remotely close to what 6000k should be.
I personally find 4300k bulbs illuminate the ground best in snow and wet conditions. This is also why a lot of people use yellow bulbs for for application as the yellow light penetrates through the fog whereas white light just reflects off the water particles in the fog. 4300k bulbs are also rated at approximately 20% more lumens than 6000k bulbs (Philips rating) meaning that they will provide you with 20% more light.
liqourish - Careful with 55W HID Kits. 55W HID kits do produce slightly more light (approximately 15%-20%) than a 35W HID Kit. This increased light output usually results in a less even light spread and additional glare. Furthermore, you usually end up getting 35W bulbs with 55W ballasts meaning that the bulbs are being over driven and will fail much quicker. Many merchants that sell 55W HID claim that 55W is a superior technology. However, there is a reason that all cars that come with HID lights from the factory still use 35W technology and not 55W technology.
