450 lb tongue weight (not towing)?

I am looking to get a motorcycle hitch carrier to haul my Ducati 848 EVO. Total tongue weight for the bike and the carrier would be less than 450 lbs.

Should I be ok?

450# on that hitch, even with nothing else in the truck is gonna sag like hell.

99% of the time, it would just be me hauling my motorcycle an hour or two away from DC to ride. Definitely no long trips, and it would never be more than me, the wife and dog, and maybe a duffle bag or two.

I just picked up a Coleman E3 Off-Road trailer with a tongue weight of 420lbs plus a ton of gear in the back. I put in Airlift 1000 airbags and it has been perfect.

I'd be nervous as hell to have that on a hitch carrier. I'd like to have one for my bike, but it is a beater.

With gear you should be fine but pushing it. I would install Airlift 1000 airbags so i wouldnt have any worries. :cheers:

You add cargo weight to payload not tongue weight. You have a 500 lbs tongue weight rating, you will be fine. Air bags will help with the sagging and are fairly inexpensive.

They do not make noise and they can be adjusted (pressure) when not carrying weight.
