We have some of the worst prices where I live. I only run 91 and am happy to pay anything under 4.20. I use the name-brand stuff, though, Shell or Chevron, which is probably unnecessary but I like my truck a lot. I feed the cat well, too. Kids....pretty good.

Not sure how much longer this topic will remain, or at best locked....but here's gas prices per gallon in US dollars (or change it what you're use too in the drop down menu) from around the world as of 03-08-2021, I think it might update every time someone goes there... but the average USA gas price is $3.11,, a bit less here where I live but higher in other states... but even in the worst states it much better than more than half of the rest of the world...topping the list is Hong Kong at $9.15.... hope this makes some of us feel a bit better!!

You're right that the price of gas is based on supply and demand.

You're wrong that it's based only on driving habits.

Without getting into politics, the government is restricting domestic supply of oil and flooding the market with money, which are both driving up the cost of gas - even if demand for gas were to decrease.

So we'll be paying more to fill up these 4Rs.

Have you done any real research of what’s going on? Yes they shut down the keystone project. That is a contributing factor but the largest effect is the actions taken by OPEC not boosting the production amount in order to bring prices back up for crude. Capitalism at its finest. To try to entirely blame an election is remiss. Yes there taxes that have been in place before the elections. This whole precept that it’s a Democrat thing is just foolish. Also just curious did you by chance return your stimulus check if you received one that is a socialist handout btw!

You are ignoring the fact that OPEC would be act completely differently if Trump was still president. Shutting down Keystone gave them the nod that there will be LESS available oil from their competition coming in to the US. OPEC is absolutely Political first, and Capitalist second.

Put another way, there is a difference between a reaction and a response. In Business, a reaction is a short term move due to market volatility, a response is a LONG TERM move driven by Political motivations. Again, OPEC is Political first and would be RESPONDING differently if Trump were still in office.

Why you might ask? Simple, OPEC doesn't care about money (if you think they do, you are missing the point entirely) they care about POWER. In this world of global transactions, POWER comes from Politics, Money is secondary to that.

Respectfully, This is not an endorsement of Trump or argument against anyone else, my point is that it seems you've tried to remove Political motivation from OPEC's mindset and blame it all on Capitalism, and I simply disagree with that premise.

Did a bit of driving over the weekend. Averaged about the mid 18’s for Hwy driving. At nearly $4/gal out here in the Bay Area of California for regular, it can get quite speedy if we did that on a regular basis. That said, my old 3rd Gen got the same.

It would be to transport tar-like crude from oil fields in/near Alberta to tanks and then refineries in the US that can process that type of raw material.

New refineries in the US and probably Canada are out of the question. Would be too costly with too much red tape to ever happen. So the crude would most likely be sold overseas, to perhaps China or Japan, instead of being processed and consumed here. It will travel by big leaky and wasteful ships, causing far more pollution than a pipeline ever could.
