4runit [ Build Thread ]

Dang, that seemed like a LOT of work, but the results were pure AWESOME. Please accept my compliments on job WELL DONE! You can see the attention to detail that went into that. Very unique!

Also, thanks for the tip on getting the paint at NAPA... I've been wanting to color match a few things for a long time now, and that's a great solution.

How did you like the quality of the NAPA paint, did it seem to be of decent quality? Did the texture come out nice and smooth, comparable to the factory finish? It looks great in the pics.

Very overdue update

Thanks for all the compliments guys. Sorry I haven't been paying attention the build thread, I've been in college! I'm at the University of Hawaii at Manoa studying Zoology. I will be heading back to California this Friday for Thanksgiving break and taking The Beast out for a nice dirt bath and hopefully some trails. Since I've been gone my dad has decided to detail my rig, buffing out all the little pinstripes and keeping it nice and purddy for when I get back. We will be giving the truck a little more lift by replacing the rear OME 890s with some Land Cruiser 861s. Anyway here are some of my favorite pics my dad has taken. :pimp:

Hey man just wondering where you got that Perkins bumper? I tried searching and couldn't find it. I live illinois and would love to have that bumper if they can ship.

Glad to see that you're still lurking here! Looking great as usual...post up some pics of your rig when you put those LC 861's on. Any plans to bring The Beast to Hawaii? :D

Yes haha still lurking, really miss offroading. I'm still debating whether or not I want to bring it out here, especially since it's not cheap. :violin:

Haha yeah it would be pretty expensive to ship it over here. Probably would be a better idea to just get a beater locally and keep the 4Runner safe at home. Idk about Oahu, but we've been having a lot of Toyota break-ins and thefts on the Big Island, especially on the Hilo side. :uzi:

Yea that's what I'm afraid of. I wouldn't really have a safe place to park it and from what I've heard Honolulu has a pretty bad reputation for that kind of stuff. :redbrick:

How did you manage to get ur parking light lenses out with the bumper in place. I tryed to get mine out with the shrockworks bumper but there wasnt enough room between the two. Great looking front end, very nicely done.
I know its a tight squeeze but somehow I managed it. If you push it forward you should probably be able to angle it and pull it out if I remember correctly.

Thanks for the compliments man your rig is very clean. I liked the quality of the NAPA paint a lot, and was surprised how well it matched. Great finish looks stock in my opinion.

You've been gone so long, that was a super old post on my end, but I ended up using the NAPA paint to do my liscence plate garnish and it came out cherry... thanks again for the tip.

As always, your 4Runner is over the top bad ass...clean, mean and capable. You should hop on more often, even if it's just to post a picture or two.

Im jealous of the stance man. I know you prolly have it posted in the build thread but do you have spacers?
yep, 1.25" Trail Gear Spacers I ordered from Savage Off-Road.

No problem NAPA surprised me with how good of a match it was. Glad it turned out cherry for you.
Yea I know I will try to post more often just been super busy. I'll try to get a cameraman for the next time I go wheeling I need more action shots:sniper:

So im assuming you also done a body lift on it? i have some 1 inch spacers laying around but it rubs too much with my 3inch lift and 33s

Don't assume just read! haha nope no body lift and I don't think I will need it after the OME 861s are installed I'm hoping it will help with the rubbing issues I have..

Looks great.....as always! What have you got planned next for it??

Hehe Thank you. I think next on the list will be the LC coils and some amber combo filters for the lightforces. Would also like to find some way to mount my full spare, does anyone know of a roof rack mount that would work for the Rola?

This might have been addressed before on here but I couldnt find anything by searching, I know your running 315s but what kind of mileage are you getting? Im considering getting the same rims with 33s but not sure of the hit that mpgs would take.
