4Runner 4.10 Elocker

just throwing this out there. I have owned several 4runners, I had a stock 2000 v6 auto 4wd and it came from the factory with 4:10. When I went to do a elocker retro fit it was difficult to find in a 4:10....drum to drum.....but I did fine one and it came out of a 98 v6 manual. Many people were surprised I had a 4:10, but it was confirmed.
As far as wire etc, I did not bother to try to put in a control module or factory wiring. I just put in a lighted switch ( and fuse) and wired so it came on in any transfercase set up, like what people do with the gray wire mod.
Since then I have had 2 others both with factory elockers, both got the gray wire mod. My current 2000 is 4:30 gears from factory.
speaking of gray wire mod, we will prob do the same to my sons 2016 taco after its out of warranty.

To remove my front diff I just undid the lower ball joints, popped out the axles from the diff and propped them out of the way, undo the driveshaft, undo all the diff mounting bolts, then remove the passenger side diff mount arm. Then just lift that rear stud out and rotate the passenger side of the diff up and it slides out.

If anyone in my area wants there front diff removed just unbolt all that stuff and I’ll come over and pull it out, if it takes me more than 5 minutes I’ll buy you a case or Busch lite
It takes more than 5 minutes. However, it's not horrible.
