4Runner '99 HIDS

After going through a pair of defective ITEK's i bought a set of HID's from Xenon Depot. I have purchased 3 sets through them now and have never been happier. Their customer service is number one and they even sent me some resistors to eliminate the "light out" dash light on my crossfire at no cost to me, wow! Steve is very helpful and goes the extra mile. They back their product up 100%.

My recommendation is seriously just to buy Sylvania SilverStar Ultras. Or IPF bulbs. I know some people are running other halogens and they seem to think they work as well if not better than Sylvania's.

I heard bad things about PIAA's headlight, but I personally haven't had them.

Like I said, I wanted HID's also, but I'm just going to suck it up and stick with legal lights.

Good luck though man! If you get HIDs, do not buy an obvious color like bright blue, stick with 4300k or 6000k

Yeah I feel you dude. I already set up my appointment for my 2 front windows to be tinted 20% and that is 30% over the legal limit (50 % in VA haha) so I don't really want to get harassed by the cops and all of that bad stuff.

These the lights? That's badass! I may just order these bad boys instead of getting the HIDS! Thanks dude! :D

Edit: I just did the "Need some help looking for the right lights for vehicle?" or something like that and I chose "1999 Toyota" which the website did not find any match for me. Will the headlights work for me even though the thing said that there were no match for the '99 4Runner?

^is what I'm looking at to order. Thanks.

Yeah man, that's them! haha :bigok:

But, I don't know if they'll look THAT blue, but they are oh so much better than stock.

I've been flashed before WITHOUT my high beams on. :p

20% tint isn't that dark in my opinion, so don't be too worried about it, unless cops are really picky where you live.

I have the Ultras and they are brighter than stock, but I don't think they are nearly as bright as HIDs. For $20-30 they aren't bad though.

Xenon Depot is a good place to get HIDs. Steve, I think that's his name, posts here pretty frequently. They have a Volt line that starts at $119 I think.

Word, thanks bra! Btw.. I have some more questions. Should I make a new thread or fire away in here? I'm feeling like I'm on a MOD craze.

Just post'em in here and if we can't figure them out then make a new thread. :)

Alright bra, haha!

I'm interested in having all of my lights changed inside of my truck.. One example would be the green light that is default on the odometer, the clock and the ghetto stock light under the wheel when you open any doors from the inside. What are the names of those spots so I can start looking for some sweet lights? And how would I be able to reach inside those spots so I can replace the light? This question goes the same for the headlights too.. (LOL, i don't want to pay like $100 for someone to install easy stuff, especially P'N'P (plug&play)

I would like to take the middle cover where it sits between the 2 front seats because I want to clean out this spot that looks really nasty.. (it's inside of the emergency brake.) When I purchased the truck from the dealership, I noticed it was really dirty when I got it but I just never got around to cleaning it.

Those are the only questions I've got so far! :)

:bigok:

You can't change the clock.

The lights for the gauges can be changed to LEDs and a good bit of us have done that mod. Search on Yotatech or on here for a lengthy thread that discusses that mod.

To remove the headlights you have to take off the grill then remove 4 bolts, I think.

The piece around the emergency brake just pops off. It's held on by 4 or 6 clips.

Word, so there's absolutely no way I can change the color of the clock? Damn, it's all good though!

Would it be easy for me to change the LEDS too? I'm not so savvy and I'm trying to learn as much as possible about installing stuff in my 4Runner :D

I'll look for the clips, are the clips inside or outside? :D Thanks bra!

Nope, nobody has been able to come up with anything for the clock.

The LEDs are fairly easy to change. It is a really good process for learning more about the vehicle though.

All I did to remove the plastic piece was get a flat head screw driver and carefully pry it up.

Word! The plastic board underneath the wheel correct? Boy I'm going to have a field day when I'm installing new stuff by myself :D

No, no. That was for the e brake.

I don't know which piece under the wheel your talking about.

I think it's the piece that hides the wires for the LEDS maybe?? :( See, I'm not so savvy :(. I hope the forums can help me learn names for the parts in my truck. D:

I ordered the HID lights and they should be here in 2-3 days later this week, so excited. Now, onto a new question! I was talking to my mother about repainting my vehicle to BLACK and she told me that I would have to go to the DMV to change the info. so that when I get pulled over, the cops will see a "black toyota 4runner" on the vin instead of "silver toyota 4runner". Do I have to do the same for the HID lights? Thanks :D :D :D

For the piece under the steering wheel there should be four 10mm bolts holding it on.

No, lol. Don't tell the DMV you have HIDs. I'm sure that could turn out bad.

Haha alright. I just hope DMV won't inspect my vehicle when I change the VIN. info after I murder my truck out. :( :D

I have so many things I want to do for my 4Runner, it is ridiculous.
