4Runner AT starts in 4th gear help!

My 1999 4Runner has a v6 engine and is an automatic.Sometimes when I put it in drive it wont go.If I put it in low it will go and then I can put it in drive and it'll work fine.
Last time it was stuck I had the scanner on it and it said it was in 4th gear.Apparently there is a computer problem telling it to start in 4th gear.
Where should I look to solve this problem?

This will happen when the solenoids start to go bad. It may not throw a code either. But, the solenoids are the culprit. You can buy a set of new solenoids for around $140. Drop the pan, and replace them.

I did this write-up around 4 years ago, but the info is good including a place to get the solenoids.
