4Runner Back Window on Remote

Can anybody control the back window on an '05 4Runner, both up and down from a remote?

I had a '94 runner for 10+ years. I built a timer circuit and controlled that from my alarm for both up and down.

When I got the '05, I was going to give up on the back window control, but a year later I've changed my mind.

So, any ideas?

My factory remote allows for the back window to go down. I don't know if its configurable to go up or not. I think they don't do up for safety reasons.

It can be done. You need to add some kind of module. I'm sure if you did a search you'd find something. Or just take it to a stereo shop and they can do it.

It would be fairly easy for any install shop to put the 'up' window circuit on an available channel of an aftermarket alarm. This would be the easiest way to do it...

Of course, you could just use the key.

I will do it myself, when I figure out the beat way.

The two ways I've come up with so far are:
1) Two timer modules on the tailgate key switch connected to alarm channels.
2) Window roll-up module on rear window motor connected to alarm channels.

I'm not sure if #2 will work with this window. The motor has other "electronics" included. Does this effect a roll-up module?

I now have back window control on my remote.

I ran 3 wires from the tailgate (rear ECU) to the alarm system (behind glovebox).
These wires are connected to the tailgate key lock, at the ECU.
(LG-B) - (GY-R) - (V-Y)
They can now control the locks and when held for over 2 seconds, raise and lower the window.
I have seperate relays for locks and window, 4 total.
The alarm sends a quick .5sec pulse to lock or unlock.
And 2 extra channels send a 6 second pulse to raise or lower the window.

The hardest part was getting the wire from the rear ECU into the main body.

Another thing I found out.....
If you lock the doors with a key (or wires connected to the key switch),
then the unlock button on the inside of the door is disabled by the ECU.

So when connecting an alarm into the door lock system, I suggest you use the key switch wires, not the lock/unlock door switch.

Question for my 2010 4runner SR5 with a Viper 5501. I have spare aux channels available, and I'm wondering for back window up/ down, do you have to run wires to the back door lock circuit or can you just power up the window switch circuit which runs right through the driver kick panel? That would be sooo much easier, as I'm sure it's a B*#CH to get wires into the tailgate.

It was many years ago when I connected my alarm...
From what I remember, the rear window switch on the dash is disabeled when the car is off. The same as the door windows.
That's why I had to run wire to the tailgate.

Thanks. I was just hoping since both circuits go through the back door ECU, you could power either and get it to work. Thought I'd just give up, but then I said "what the hell!"

So, I ran the wires into the tailgate over the weekend. what a ***** of a job. tapped into the door lock wires, and voila! up and down functions on remote.
