4Runner DRILLED SLOTTED BRAKE ROTORS

Hello

I'm thinking of buying for my 4Runner 08 a drilled slotte, I have doubts buying because some people say it is not good idea.

My problem is that when I'm with many people in the truck the brakes get hot enough,

I'd really like to hear the opinions of people who have used these rotors.

Just buy the larger rotors & get better pads & or calipers . Look nice but really don't improve braking .

Do you have any actual proof it doesn't improve braking or is that just a personal opinion that's not based on any real evidence?
Drilled or slotted rotors improve braking on motorcycles so I don't see why it wouldn't do the same thing on a 4Runner. Bikes came with solid rotors when disc brakes first came out but owners soon discovered they could improve the performance quite a bit by drilling patterns of holes in them, I've done it on my older bikes myself. That helped so much the companies started stamping slots in them from the factory and my newest one came with rotors already slotted.

Not gonna do it ! Steve plenty of threads n performance sticky about them , I had em on my Taco dbl cab ebc definetly helps if you have larger tires & wheels but ,,,,, for what he was asking think the larger rotors would be his best bet & if they (drilled/slotted) come in the larger rotor go for it .

I have drilled and slotted rotors on the front. I like them because it eliminated warped rotor syndrome that the 3rd gen suffer from. :laugh:

Drilled and slotted rotors shouldn't be a problem for street use and should actually help keep them from warping.

The track is a different story. For track use I would go with slotted only to help dissipate heat. The drilled rotors under extreme heat can actually crack (again that's only under very extreme use on the track). I'm sure you're not tracking your 4Runner though.

One observation I had with drilled rotors where that they were noisy when braking. Due to the holes, it would make a funny air whooshing sound...something to consider.
