10 minutes to change both O2,s. Easy to reach, not rusted in, no need for a special socket. I love my 4Runner.

The lift helps when crawing under too.
Really the only thing that irritates me on this thing so far is the rear shocks and that is not that much of an inconvenience.

The first time I changed the starter I didn't know the trick and it took me 2 hours. Last time about 30 min.

What's so bad about the oil change?

Worst cars I have ever had to work on so far have been PT Cruiser and AWD Eagle Talon.

Audi A4 is a bonafide nightmare.

Issue on oil change is the filter. Still, it's easier than a lot of cars. My sons Hyundai Accent is far worse, tight up under the exhaust mainfold, good for a second degree burn every time.

When I first saw the oil change comment the first thing I thought was, "At least it's not an A4." That car is just more complicated to work on for everything than it should be. Even doing brake pads is over complicated...

Because most people that buy that car can't/don't want to change their own oil so they take it to the dealer. (I don't mean that the wrong way at all either.)

The E36 based chassis and E367/8 (Z3 roady/coupes) are the same.

Jack up, drain, replace washer, drop, remove oil filter cap, swap orings/filter, replace cap, fill.

No crazy spaces to get to, nothing else needed to be removed. The only thing that could make it easier is a lift or even a set of ramps if you could drive up them (I can't, cars go down, trucks go up).

Half of that $200 is nearly the liquid gold your S54's require though.

I've worked on a lot of vehicles in my life and this one is by far the easiest, simplest, most well thought out vehicle ever. Not quite as easy as dad's 77 Bronco but definitely ranks up there with it. My four wheeler is harder to work on than this thing.

Awd eagle talon hard to work on? I could do motor trans swap in less than one day with my eyes closed. Very easy to work on. Mitsubishi 3000gt and dodge stealth are a PITA!

Pt cruiser is nothing but a neon. Also easy.

I tried and failed with my current tools. My Denso replacement starter sits on the shelf. I know what I need to buy to do it I'm just afraid that the occasional grind noise is the flywheel and not the starter - ignorance is bliss.

No no, the B5 S4 is the real nightmare.

You need to pull / raise the motor to do numerous things.

The talon, I had to rebuild the tranny and the motor, it had some serious crankwalk and everything that could go wrong with that car did. The door handle even broke off when I went to bleed the clutch. I hated that car.

The PT my buddy bought and did a motor swap on because it had caught on fire and got the wrong year so the crank sensor was wrong and it caused a bunch of confusion. We learned quickly on both that you just throw them on the lift and drop everything out the bottom. Makes it much easier.

My background is more in older cars, we built hotrods and rat rods and restored old Fords, so going from that to Mistubishi and Chrysler... bleh!

We are talking ease of working on the car. Not how reliable they are. LOL. So yes I agree with you.

Coming from dsm's, i have torn through 2 heads, one bottom end, three trans and Im guessing 4+ clutches. But young and dumb with 300-400whp makes you break things.

Once you learn the Mitsubishi its the best budget tuner car.

You want to run a 6 bolt to avoid any crankwalk and an auto trans to avoid trans work. You can run 10 second on stock auto trans with pretty good results. Its like the tuners powerglide in the gm world.
