4Runner Maintenance

I posted this is the maintenance section and got no reply so I am hoping I will here.

Have an 06 4Runner, 2WD, 4.7 ltr V8. Has 110K miles. I tow my 17 ft Cape Horn with it during the summer months (maybe 200 total miles towing the boat) and the wife drives it at all other times. What should I expect to pay to get the transmission flushed and a new timing belt installed. I've gotten a few crazy quotes! I bought it with 56K miles and I have never had this done. Should I get the differential fluid changed as well? Thank you very much!

Not sure on the quote but I would have the timing belt done first if funds were limited. I think my shop did my trans flush for $75. But, I'm not too sure cause I was having several other things done at the same time. I was getting a timing belt, trans flush, and a new water pump.

I think the flush (not a complete system refresh of oil) was 99$ (another place wanted 325 for a complete flush/fluid replacement) and 499 for the timing belt (the other place wanted 925). It was recommended to do the serpentine belt as well(another 99 for the belt alone he said, sounded pretty high to me for just the belt). And a rear differential fluid replacement and coolant system flush. Total cost, at the lower priced place which happens to be a Toyota dealership, was 808. That actually sounded like a good deal especially compared to the place that wanted the 325 (trans flush) and 925 for the timing belt..... your thoughts are appreciated! Thank you!

$925 for just the timing belt? That's insane. What does that place charge to put air in a tire? I would stay away from there.

$808 total from Toyota doesn't sound bad if they are doing everything you listed: trans flush, coolant flush, timing belt, diff oil. Also check the water pump too. I'm not sure about the 06 but on my 3rd gen its easily accessible when changing the timing belt. My shop didn't charge me any labor to install the water pump since all they had to do was switch the parts while they were doing the belt. May be worth changing it at 110k if the price isn't bad.
