I see no reason why this wouldn't work on a V6 4Runner. The only common thing I can see is they chose vehicles which are more commonly modded or may be underpowered for their size. Xb, Tacoma, and FJ are heavily modded vehicles. In fact, Toyota released the FJ and Tacoma designs to the aftermarket manufacturers a good 6 months before the public got them to insure a healthy supply of parts. Tunda and Sequoia with a 4.7L V8 may be a real dog without this extra power due to the extra weight of the vehicle.
The only mod we would need to do on the 4Runners would be to have frame rails and windshields that crack.
