Hey [MENTION=132734]MeefZah[/MENTION], here’s your photo shop. This one has been in business for years here in Knoxville and I’m really amazed that they’ve remained in business.

Next challenge: Your 4R with a local-owner fly fishing or other kind of outfitter shop. Extra points if they have some kind of cool vehicle that represents their business.

No cool vehicle here, and kind of a lame storefront.

If I had time I would drive up to Reedsport, OR and do this challenge legit with this shop:

Not related to the picture game but pertaining to cool vehicles owned by businesses:

We have a surplus store in town that has one of these old 6x6 military rover things painted up as a rolling advertisement, I don't even know the name of the machine... it runs around and I see it parked at the owner's house a lot.

Anyway... NEXT CHALLENGE:

Yeah, that second shop is definitely better.:thumb: And on the 6x6, I think it is cool that it has BFG ATs on it in whatever size that is.

As far as East Tennessee, we're not a pioneer-centric area but I will keep my eyes open. Up the road about an hour from here is where Daniel Boone blazed the passage to the west for many pioneers... Cumberland Gap, TN... though I'm not sure I will be up that way anytime soon.

Cal State University Hayward Poineers. They misspell the name on all the signage though, as CSU "east bay". I drove all over the campus, signs saying the mascot name were scarce.

I headed out this morning hoping I could find a nice sunrise. As you can see, though I tried to get above the clouds, there was no sun.

I think you’re right. I just realized that my reminders (I live by reminders these days) for this thread subscription go straight to junk mail. It can’t die, it’s fun departure from endless treads about floormat upgrades.

I was wanting to revive the game earlier, but I didn't want anyone to think I had nothing better to do.:biggrin1: I do like playing when we have several players and some momentum. I apologize in advance for the lameness of this attempt at meeting the challenge. But here is my 4Runner with a 2019 Tennessee Wildlife calendar on the windshield. Amazing, I know. :redface: I couldn't find anything with New Years decorations and I avoid fireworks like the plague.

Next challenge: Your 4Runner with an interesting/unusual tree. It can be interesting/unusual in size, age, shape, species, or anything else that makes it stand out to you. This time of year when I'm outdoors, I find I pay more attention to tree shapes, bark patterns, etc. that when everything is full of leaves. Hopefully this is easy enough and provides an interesting picture or two.

OK, couple of things:

1) sorry I haven't been as active as I want to be on this thread - between no longer being on night shift, having a new Husky pup (that is insane and wants to play 24/7), the T4R server being all weird, and lack of other players I drifted off. I also decided not to bother with the rest of the challenge list (sorry Mark); no one really seemed to give a shit and no one else (except Mark) stepped up. One dude told us how stupid we were to have extracted all the data by hand and told us he'd write a program to do the rest of the list... and then didn't... so I kinda quit caring.

b) I did go for a drive today specifically to get this challenge. Nice rainy day here on the north coast of California - rainy days are the best in the redwoods because no one else is out and everything is fresh and moist, it really accentuates the fact that you are, literally, in a rain forest. Sadly, the road I was going to go on is closed, probably due to the federal government shutdown.

I did, however, find these specimens of Coast Redwoods, among the largest and oldest living things on earth. The gutted out tree (hit by lightening, most likely, and still alive) dates back to approximately the birth of Jesus H Christ. Seriously. I think all the pics qualify for "interesting trees" so I'm claiming this challenge.

When the challenge of interesting tree was made, I instantly thought "redwood". Then I remembered that [MENTION=132734]MeefZah[/MENTION] has cornered the market on awesome redwood pics :cheers: I did some reconnaissance today by the bay, looking for cat tails. They don't really like estuaries. I know where there are a ton, but you can't park anywhere near those. I'll try to find more tomorrow.

Hey MeefZah, it's difficult to stay motivated on this game without a consistent player base. I have my forum issues straightened out now and get notifications. The only reason I haven't chased down your cattail challenge yet is because I'm spending Mon-Fri in Massachusetts sans 4Runner. I even tried to get a 4Runner rental up there so I could play. There are tons of marshes up there and this would've been a piece of cake. But I know a couple of local ponds...

As for the tree pics, those are beautiful. I love the coastal redwoods and all of the giant trees you all have in CA.
