Out of all the dealers in my area, one was able to give me information on it. I put money down on it yesterday and he said it should be delivered sometime in October, but he didnt have pricing or any other specs. He wrote me up an PO with 45k on it, but said I wouldnt pay sticker price on it. This will be my first Toyota product.

Glad that it isn't at 45k like some had predicted. Only thing to find out now is if it has KDSS...

at $41k MSRP i'd guess it does NOT have KDSS. :shrug:
Someone beat me to the post...good price range though, as others stated I expected 45K

Does anyone know if the TRD PRO eliminates the KDSS suspension??
If not, can anyone tell what suspension set up the TRD PRO 4Runner uses?!?!
I'm trying to building mine up just like it, and I am not sure if I can since I have a trails team equipped with the KDSS suspension.
Does anyone know if the KDSS is compatible with Bilsteins 5100 series ?

I'm not trying to be smart but check one of the prior posts for one of the articles on it. It seems like all of them answer your questions.
Yes, 5100s will work with KDSS. Also, the PRO comes standard with Bilsteins.

Even with the prices released, my dealer still isnt able to give me any information on what it comes standard with the Pro. They are hoping they can get the build info either tomorrow or on the 15th. He said they are able to order cars on the 1st and 15th of every month. I have ordered cars in the past, never a Toyota, and the dealers never told me they had to wait to put in the order.
I've read that the TRD Pro does not have the KDSS because it works better without. So, it is a Trail Premium with the TRD suspension goodies, skid plate, wheels, and tires. A Trail Premium is $38,700 without KDSS before destination. So that puts the TRD Pro as a ~$2400 premium over the Trail without KDSS. That really isn't outrageous at all. The Tacoma TRD's price is way harder to swallow.

I was told at last years SEMA show in Las Vegas that Toyota will be using something very similar to Bilstein's BTS line. Basically, a BTS strut without the height adjustability. IIRC, the springs are a co-development between Toyota and Bilstein. The BTS strut kits from Bilstein will also come with a "softer" spring just like the TRD pro. Currently, it looks like Bilstein only has them available for the 1st gen Tundra and Ford superduty. They said that more applications will follow. Not sure which shocks match up for the rear. Maybe the 5160's?

Your missing the part where you can get a Trail Premium for $3k-$4k under MSRP and the possibility of markup from dealer so that makes it $5400-$6400+ difference
And how is Toyota to remedy that? Should they have priced the TRD Pro the same as the TE Premium? Just like you can get a TE under MSRP, the market will flesh it out.
I wouldn't call them wannabes. I'd call them "generally get little thrill or enjoyment modifying cars". I'm a powertrain engineer. I've built quite a few engines in my day. I just don't care for spending my free time getting a car where I want it to be when I can buy it that way. There was a post a while back about posting your ideal 4Runner. Other than a V8 or 8AT, the white pro nails it for me. Why try to build what I can buy when I'm not going to do a much better job (or considerably cheaper)? Yea, I could do an aftermarket suspension cheaper, but if it causes any problems or fails, it is all on me. Plus, if I needed to sell for whatever reason, a stock truck retains its value far better than a Frankenstein. Anyway, if the Pro fits your wants, buying it doesn't make you a wannabe. There are logical reasons to buy versus make.
