So this is pretty much your final look. I must say that the Black did a total 180 on me, and it looks freakin awesome. Personally I like the little bit of flakes in the paint, because it will be shiny when/ if clean. Moved the truck from one shop to the other, down and up a small hill and minor road travel. Felt comparable to my KDSS, but not much of a test. However, I had no idea the leveling would make the feel of the ride height that much different, but it does feel a little higher. Congrats to those who have one waiting, and good luck to those of you still on the fence and your decision. looking forward to seeing who decides on what. King Noob - The spare is not a Nitto, just the standard spare.

Do you guys align the vehicle after the taller front suspension is installed? Easy to get in spec with the 1.5 lift, I'd assume.

Well now that we know that the TRD Pro is not fully assembled in Japan , but is modified here in the states this FJ Recall makes perfect sense.I guess they missed the 52 point check.

Toyota Announces Recall of Certain FJ Cruiser Vehicles

August 29, 2014
TORRANCE, Calif., August 29, 2014 – Toyota Motor Sales, U.S.A., Inc., today announced plans to conduct a voluntary safety recall of approximately 1,800 Model Year 2014 FJ Cruiser vehicles.

The involved vehicles are equipped with an optional “Trail Teams Ultimate Edition” package, which includes specialized suspension components and Active Traction Control. In some of these vehicles, the two bolts attaching the front lower ball joint to the steering knuckle might have been tightened with insufficient torque when the new front shock absorbers and springs were installed. In this condition, one or both bolts could become loose during driving and potentially fall out. If both bolts were to fall out, the front lower ball joint could detach from the steering knuckle causing a loss of steering control.

Owners of the vehicles involved will receive a notification by first class mail starting in late September 2014. Toyota dealers will inspect the lower ball joint bolts and related suspension components. If a bolt is found to be loose, it will be tightened to the proper specification. If a bolt is missing, a new one will be installed. The inspection and remedy procedure will be performed at No Charge to the vehicle’s owner.

Toyota is not aware of any crashes, injuries or fatalities caused by this condition.

Questions

Not quoting, but answers to multiple questions. There was no adjustment made to the headlights as the front lift was not enough to cause need for it. Or so I was told. I will try and get the measurments if I can, but not sure if I will be able to. Japanese holidays are over and we're getting ships again! The vehicle is aligned after the suspension is put on. Glad I could help and share the pics. It is pretty cool to see how all of the different vehicles get put together here, and I'm glad I could share with everyone on this specialty vehicle. Sorry if anything was left out that someone wanted a shot of, but I think I covered most of them. The black has definitely given me more to think about for sure, but everytime I see an Inferno Taco, I'm drawn to it. Color is really my only tough decision, but I'm hoping come October when I can order, the decision will basically be made for me by process of elimination due to availabilty or delivery date. I will for sure post pics of the other colors when they come through, but likely once completed instead of the step by steps of the first one. Oh and for your viewing pleasure, Steelies Graveyard.

This wouldn't be an inspection find, but a trial and error find by Toyota (The Mothership). The initial torques provided were wrong, and caused issues. No possible way that through an inspection this would be found, because it would be an "over time" thing. Same situation though when you re-torque your aftermarket rims every other week for a couple months after the rim shop puts them on. Do you trust their torque guidlines? The port gets the instructions from Toyota and follows them without question, unless there is an easily noticeable defect. We have fully calibrated electonic torque wrenches that are set and tested with a calibration tool before each install. And yes, sometimes things are not picked up until they get to the port. We have found other issues that needed to be corrected. Sucky part on that is then the vehicle sits again until Toyota can provide their correction to their problem. So, with that being said, pointing fingers is easy if you don't know what really goes on. I remember finding my first recall too. :focus:

Not pointing fingers, just pointing out that anytime you take something apart there is always the chance it will not go back together correctly. It's human error. The factory has many,many safeguards in place to prevent this type thing. " loose bolts" are pretty important . Having the Toyota factory building the vehicle and shipping it to the states to tear apart and install a lift kit is pretty basic stuff. The aftermarket has been doing this forever. I was just so surprised at the recall but after reading what happens to the rigs in the states , it's understandable .I have had many port installed items that were incorrectly done and proper procedure was not followed. (Spoilers , fog lights , radios , ect...)

Agreed that there is always the possibility of human error, but in the case of the recall you posted, I wouldn't blame that on the Port install. That's a recall for ALL vehicles, which means that ALL ports were given the same torque value. That value again, must have been incorrect for the typical driving habits of owners. If you were unsure, I know at our port, the installer must document the torque values used for everything. And as for the "many" Port installed items that were done incorrectly, sounds like you have either purchased ALOT of Toyota vehicles (thank you for your continued support), or have just been very unlucky (don't gamble).

Yup - was originally going with Inferno but have the same concerns as yourself. Leaning towards white now, but can't stop thinking of the money I would save by getting a TEP in white and just adding a "couple" things...
