4runner TRD Pro

Still not worth the extra cash in my opinion.

It's a matter of different needs/desires.

The TRDP is a happy middle ground for people that don't want a stock truck but also don't want to build Gravedigger. And, I would challenge you on its value - it's a fairly priced vehicle for what yr getting.

As promised... here's some pics for you all. Long story short... I flew out Monday night, nabbed about 3 hours sleep and then got up Tuesday morning and picked up the TRD. Then proceeded to drive home (approx. 1250 miles & 18 hours of non-stop driving!!! I got in this morning and tinted the windows right away and have not slept since Monday night. Now, I'm going on a 5 day trip to another state in the early morning. So by tomorrow, I'll have hit 5 states in 24 hrs. time. Needless to say... I'm just about dead... BUT I did promise some pics... I won't be here for a week but I'll check in then.... Hope you enjoy and that it helps some of the fence-sitters of the TRD go one way or another. By the way, My Salesman was the ABSOLUTE BEST IN THE BUSINESS and was on top of everything for the last several months. I've been in it for a loooong time! I'd love to post his name but need to check with him first and discuss. He was (is) a ROCKSTAR!

Congratulations!! Amazing how much better it looks with a good camera! Alot of travel for sure, but hopefully the dedication paid off in your mind. Looking forward to some real driving reviews.

If I go AWOL here soon, it's because I'm packing to head out again. So I apologize if I can't answer questions right away. However, I'm taking the truck to a cool new place and will have even more test info on the terrain. If I can swing it, I'll do a whole TRD owner review as I think many here would benefit highly... as I know I would've loved it as I awaited this truck. Going first or at least early is a double edge sword... Sweet, but you obviously are committed and have to eat the changes/ drops, etc. Overall, It's a great truck! None of them are perfect. We'd all tinker with any model we end up with most likely.

My quick impression when I first saw it in person...

Wow! It looks beefier in person.. the Nittos looked better than I thought, the wheels looked bolder than i anticipated and overall it just looked Bold & Strong! Was pleasantly surprised by that. Very nice appointments inside too. Great fit/finish in there. Man... 18 hours of straight driving, I became one with the thing. The Entune really punched down low and up high when playing quality tracks. All I can say is doing 80mph.... SMoooooooooth!

Well, funny you should ask this because the whole time I thought it was painted. But much to my shock, it is a cover! I believe the grille can be purchased. Looking into that tomorrow if I have time and will try and obtain a part #.

The white and black do look kick ass, but I am still dead set on the Inferno. My dealership had a white one show up and offered it to me, but I turned it down and staying with the Inferno. I figure the color is going to look even better when you get a bunch of black accessories on the truck like front and rear bumpers, roof rack, sliders, and a few others things. My Subaru Impreza STi is white, the 100 series Land Cruiser before it was black, so there is no doubt for me that Inferno is my color.

Dealer called me today to let me know an Inferno Tacoma showed up and to stop over to check it out.

It may have helped that it was cloudy, but Inferno wasn't nearly as loud as I thought it would be. I think "burnt orange" best describes it. The metallic in the paint almost gave it a rusty hue. Looked incredible on the Tacoma with black TRD pro badge & black bumper accents.

I get the feeling that a lot of these pictures we are seeing online are heavily saturated to make the orange really stand out.

I do love the new front-end (2014+), but the more I see what they have done with the front ends of the Tacoma/Tundra TRD Pro, the more I think that they should have done better for the 4Runner TRD Pro. In my opinion they just slap Toyota in the front and called the day while the 2 others have a bigger/better looking front logo.

But hey, I do love it anyway...

I couldn't agree with you more! I love the way the TOYOTA looks in the cutout of the Tacoma and Tundra. Definitely ashame that it's not on the 4Runner.

The plastic is still on the hood, covering the scoop. It's there, just look really close at the bulge.

I completely agree. Every picture i saw of the pre-production TRD Pro looked nose high a bit and at the very least level. Now, every picture I see of the production truck looks less than level. Almost looks like a stock height TE. At first i thought maybe the port forgot to install the suspension. Thats really a let down for a lot of the folks like me that liked the look of the preproduction version. And yes, for 99% buyers, looks matter.... and yes, i just made up that statistic.

I think the suspension is PERFECT. I'm still "kinda" in the market for one. I'll know for sure after a test drive. Front range CO dealers have trucks in transit that are not spoken for. The front end hasn't grown on me like I thought it would. Although it's a lot better with "TOYOTA" across the grill. The deal breaker for me is going to be KDSS, I love it. I didn't think I noticed KDSS until I rode in a 2014 back to back against mine across Ophir Pass. I also have 5100's and they help too.

Sliders would be my only addition to the TRD Pro, kudos to Toyota!

How do you know suspension is perfect if you have yet to ride in one? I'm really not seeing or understanding how a softer suspension without KDSS is a good thing for a vehicle the already rolls and nosedives like it does.
