4runner TRD Pro

I'm not sure if I am posting in the right location but I'll give it a try. So this past weekend I went to the toyota dealership in hopes to purchase a trd pro 4runner, come to find out the orange one will take a few months to obtain so they asked if I would like to put a non refundable deposit down to assure you of your vehicle, I said ok. With a little negotiation I was able to get the 4runner for $40k so after tax tag title it came to be $43k and some change. What I want to know is can I do better on the price or is that pretty much it. I also got an extra year on maintenance, oil change and I believe tire rotation

IMO never put a non refundable deposit down. If the dealer says this than usually thats a sign to stay away from the dealer.

Yea I didn't like the non refundable deposit also, I even asked for a refundable deposit but they decline it.

Sounds like you struck a good deal on a truck you wanted, no regrets!

Prices have reported to vary widely on this truck, with some saying dealers have added as much as a 5k markup to the sticker. I'd say anything below sticker on a TRDP is a deal.

got mine yesterday. first impressions -

the tires/wheels look much better in person than they do in any photographs.

the ride is really smooth.

interior is very nice.

plan on taking her up for some wheeling on saturday if i can figure out which passes are still open.

$40K and a extra year of service is a great deal in my area. I'm seeing MSRP to +3K.

If you really want it, and they don't re-neg at the time of delivery like they did with one person in this forum, I wouldn't worry about it not being refundable.

Ding protection

Cant wait to pick up my TRDP but I'm not looking forward to getting dings in parking lots. Any suggestions on how to best prevent this other than not parking next to other vehicles?

1. TRD pro just has some aftermarket crap stuck on it, pretty much any runner could be built better than the Pro.

2. TRD pro holds it value better? How do you know this? You sound awfully confident. Not that I don't agree but there is no way to know at the moment.

:flypig:
I've bought over 20 vehicles in my life and can tell you that it's a fact. No one will offer you money on aftermarket parts. The parts might help it sell quicker, or get you higher blue book value, but in the end it's all about what number comes up when they put your vin# in the computer. The part about building a BETTER vehicle than the TRD PRO is reasonable. Given enough money I can build any vehicle into a better vehicle.

I paid $40,003 out the door. Seems normal.

Update:

After driving my stock TRD PRO for a week here is my MPG data.

18.5 MPG on the interstate averaging 75mph

17.5 MPG to and from work (no interstate)

I did not try to drive efficient. I drove like I normally do.

Pull those pads out of your purse and stick them all over.

I wouldn't put those on either, it was more of a joke. My body shop charges $100 per panel to get all of the dings out. I will have to wait till I get a few as they are inevitable in NY and take it in.

This is better than I would have thought. Would be happy with 18 avg.
Thanks for the update.

That's not too bad at all especially with a newer engine.

I'm disappointed that they didn't add the TRD exhaust on the 4Runner.
I'm wondering if there will be a good aftermarket air/intake- exhaust combo with a chip to boost performance and efficiency. I've given up on having an SUV with a diesel so I need to research how to improve upon what is offered with gas.
