4runner TRD Pro

Did you have that at Mellow Mushroom last night? I had the white 4th gen. Looked great, grill has an early 80 series look with the Toyota spelled out.

Wasn't me, but I wish I would have seen it. Dealer has traded with another dealer to get me a super white. It's supposed to be here in a week or two.

Awesome!
That roof rack with the steps are perfect.
Surprised you changed the Nittos, although you did mentioned in an earlier post trouble in mud.
From your posts I guess you put a lot of mileage on the truck.
What kind of gas mileage were you getting before the roof rack and after?
Lastly how much were the rack and steps?
I am definitely going to paint the trd pro badge red to match the wheel hub.
Again looks awesome.

jtallequipment,

Thanks for the compliments... The Nittos were fantastic and rode so smoothly! The only reason for change was a tougher tire for rocky desert runs, towing, camping and general abuse. If this was only going to be a city driver/mild off-roader for me, I would've never changed them out. I have about 2500 miles of which 2300 were Nittos. More on mpg soon. Roof rack was $1395 OTD. Steps were $310 OTD. Can't wait to see the RED TRD. Do it!

Did the roof rack come with the ladder?
Seeing your truck really has me anxious to get mine.

So I looked at the shocks, granted the wheels were straight so you couldn't see real well. It looks like the shocks do have adjustable notches like the 5100 Series, and I think the drivers side is a notch above the passenger side. My Taco had that lean I suspect it is common in T4R as well?

Just stopped into Riverhead Toyota on Long Island. They have a black TRDP that is at the dock. They want 3k over MSRP! I really don't like this practice of charging more than list but I guess people are paying. Not me. If my dealer re-negs on my order I will be pretty upset.

Did they say when they expected it. Dealer wasn't sure if mine was at the dock yet. I do have a vin and options list. Bought my first new truck from Riverhead
A 1983 SR5 black silver stripe kit short bed 4x4. $9,900.00 before tax. Loved that truck. Sold it 5 years later for $7,900.00.

Woot, woot, pick it up Monday!

So you are the one who bought that black beauty at Walser Toyota!

Speaking of warranties....I'll search this site to see if there's info posted but does anyone have advice on who to buy one from? I know with Chrysler there's a company that sells a very solid warranty for much less than what dealerships sell them for.

I drive a ton of miles so I'm going to want a great warranty!

Another Minnesotan, woot!

Congratulations you dream killer! I called them up and was on my way over to look at it when they called me back and said it was sold.

Enjoy it!

Were you trying to buy the Black Pro at Burnsville Toyota?

We just had that happen at our dealership I believe to the one we got in recently. Less than 24 hours to get nabbed up after delivery

Pics to come...

Is this Sam at Walser Toyota?

Black Pro at Walser Toyota in Bloomington on Friday evening. Must be Sean N's:

Honestly after they quoted me the $47K price I was focused on leaving. They said it is in NJ and will take about 2 weeks to get it to Riverhead. They didnt have any deposits on it. If you are interested in a black one this may be a good bet minus the Price gouging.

Nope. I am coming from a Tacoma so as much as i would like one, I'm not going backwards.

All the reviews had moonroofs I guess the reviewers should have made it clear that the actual production model may differ from the pre-prods. In one review the guy was even complaining about the headroom with the sunroof. Oh well...

I think they were on summer special, but I rec'd the rack, wind deflector, ladder and the sunroof insert all packaged together. TrailDuty was excellent to work with and was responsive and very helpful. I had them delete that rear crossbar and fill in with mesh flooring instead. I highly recommend this as most of us wouldn't need the back crossbar unless you use a Thule or something. Otherwise, It gives you more room to pack how you want.

*Edit: I give full credit to Ducmonsta for this idea. Great idea as i wasn't happy with the rear crossbar in the way and the lack of mesh below it.

Simple, make it yourself! The preproduction units were just normal shipping cars that were outfitted with TRD parts. Buy an SR5 or a trail with the normal options you want (for $$$ less than the pro) and then put TRD or other parts on it as you like.

My half finished SR5 is WAY ahead of a TRD pro :)

Price would come out to about the same if you stuck to the cheap bilstein suspension upgrades and the other few TRD Pro doo-dads. Would probably stay away from the expensive TRD wheels and go with something from Method for 1/2 the price or less though.

I don't doubt you can make a 4Runner SR5 better than the pro. The problem comes if you want to sell it you are not going to get hardly anything back from all the stuff you did. The T4Rpro will hold its value way better than any other outfitted / loaded 4Runner after its sold from the dealer. Look at all the extras I put on my 02'. I couldn't sell it for more than high book. No credit union is going to say "Sure they put all this extra stuff on so we'll loan more on the car".

I pick up my new Super White TRD Pro 4Runner this weekend. I am so excited. I will try to post pics as soon as I get it. I found one in Oklahoma City which is only 3 hours from Dallas where I live.

I am relatively new to 4Runners myself but most of my family either drives one or a Tundra.

This is my first post so thank you all for all the info I have obtained from reading all of these posts over the last month or so.

1. TRD pro just has some aftermarket crap stuck on it, pretty much any runner could be built better than the Pro.

2. TRD pro holds it value better? How do you know this? You sound awfully confident. Not that I don't agree but there is no way to know at the moment.

:flypig:

I think he was saying a TRD-Pro would hold its value better than tossing on some aftermarket parts on a SR5 to make it perform like a TRDP.

TRD Pro

Got mine Sat, 10/11/2014, White, loving everything so far. Came from a 2004 Sport V8. My regional sales guy told me that the Pros are "earned" by how many 4runners the dealer has sold in the past. Like to hear from people getting vehicle to compare notes good, bad, etc. Thanks....
