TRD Pro in deep sand?

I'm considering the TRD Pro & have read every post. Has anyone taken this out in the deep sand, like at Hattaras in NC? I have VW Touareg now and can get 12" clearance with stock hydraulic suspension, never got stuck at OBX with 20psi in the tires (although almost stuck in the sound side in that fine silt). TRD Pro stock seems to only have 9.5" clearance, makes be worried. Lift kits here seem to get additional ~1" only. I too would not want to void any warranty. Also, are the lift kits adding ground to skid plate clearance, or just top of wheel to fender clearance?

Thanks for any info. One post was from Fla, but sand didn't seem as deep as OBX.

Here is a Pic of my TRDP.. Kinda new the the Forum thing.. so If this isn't right just let me know the right way.

I have a 2012 Trail and have taken it to hatteras (buxton and ocracoke) many times and never gotten stuck. In the areas with finer sand, I air down but I have also gotten away without doing so. In my experience out there, ground clearance hasn't been the limiting factor for people who were stuck...usually it was related to AWD vs 4wd, not airing down, or simply driver error.

Took a 2 day trip into George Washington National Forest after they got some snow. Went up Flagpole Knob almost to the top, tree was blocking the trail near the top. Also drove Long Run Road end to end with no issues. Tires were fantastic in the snow. Did the whole drive in just 4H and only had traction control kick in one time with a little slippage climbing over a snow covered rock. Very happy with the truck and how it performs and I can't wait to go back in the summer time and get all the way to the top!

Sorry about the iPhone pics lol

What about just normal driving?

Normal, day to day driving I have absolutely zero issues. I only get rubbing whenever I am backing up.

So what is the best result of the two spacers? What's the difference besides one being 1' and the other being 3/4'? And price?

Well the BAJA Spacers actually compresses the shock spring into which stiffens up the ride a little. I personally have no experience with BAJA Spacers.

I am running Toytecs Top Plate Spacer on my TRDP. The Toytecs do not compress the spring at all, they basically just bring the entire strut assembly down. I have jumped my TRDP with them and they gave a decent amount of ground clearance over the initial height.

Vlad, did you get an alignment after adding the top plate spacers?

No I didn't. I actually had a slight alignment issue before the spacers, adding the spacers actually fixed the alignment.

It's suggested to get a alignment after, but I wouldn't do it unless it actually causes a problem.

If a suspension guy knows what he's doing when installing it, wouldn't mess anything up.

About a month in and we are happy with our trd pro. I got rid of a Honda pilot and got the wife a brand new trd pro.

I dont know I think with a 3/4" top plate you are going to be a little toe out. It isnt going to cause a huge problem, probably wouldnt even notice it driving down the road, maybe not even by looking at it. But your tires might start to wear a little funny. Might keep an eye on them.

You said you had original alignment issues, my steering wheel is cocked about two degrees right, but drives straight. I am taking it in for the 5000 mile maintenance tomorrow morning so I will ask them to address the alignment.

Yeah my steering wheel was cocked the same exact way, but after adding all my spacers is was back to normal.
