4runner TRD Pro

Congrats! I wanted to get the TRD Pro but was not willing to pay what they were going for. Nice ride!
Congrats on the ride. Any word or reason for the hold up? I put a deposit down on a Quicksand coming with the vessel arrival scheduled for 4/27. A month long wait between arrival and port processing?! Is that normal?
It was definitely a long wait knowing it was less than 2 hours away for almost 6 weeks. According to a few people I spoke with at the dealer, it is not normal. One of the managers said there was a major back up at the ports including several ships sitting waiting to offload. None of them were able to give an exact reason on why.

My search for a trail premium w/KDSS ended when I showed up at a dealership and a Mag Grey Pro was just sitting outside the door to the dealership with everything still wrapped up from being unloaded at 4 am the night before. Guess nobody else wanted it.

Yes, They do have synthetic oil, for the first service they only get tire rotation and multi-point inspection and also they might complete the fluids level if it is needed. The first oil change is at 10K miles or one year whichever comes first.

That's what i thought but id figure id ask one of you guys not a receptionist. Thanks for the help.
I went in for my 5K miles service and requested that oil be changed, that I would pay for...dealer didn't charge me for it. May want to ask.

There was a TRD Pro thread where an employee leased one, and could have bought one at employee pricing. But I cannot find it. Has anyone gotten a TRD Pro with friends and family pricing, and if so what was the cost?
I may get the hookup, and then it will be wondering if any dealer will give up their TRD Pro to someone with employee discount.
I really like the metallic grey, saw one in traffic and it looked amazing. So that will be my goal.
Now, are there any options to get nit picky or be concerned about on a Pro or its just grab what you can find and really no worrying over options?
I considered a Trail but at this point just want a Pro...most of my life I had two vehicles, always two 4x4s but usually one lifted and loaded with goodies for wheeling and the other more a daily driver pickup or SUV I could also hunt and camp with. Now I need to be a one car person. I do not want to worry about spending time and money on a shop installing a lift, even though I know guys can get a better suspension with the money they save getting a Trail. I do not do my own work, so in LA I would be paying big money for any lift to be installed, then IF something went wrong in the drivetrain or suspension, I do not want to worry about a dealer saying its because of the lift etc. Between paying for labor, worrying about warranty issues, and then buying new AT tires, I would buy a Trail and then be spending another chunk of change. In 25 years of driving lifted 4x4s, I've never really had one that once you start messing with it there are not gremlins to work out, which is why a small lift from the factory with a warranty seems appealing to me. Plus its already got ATs on it, a locker, out of the box could wheel if needed. Plus could do my daily driving duties, road trips, all in one package. A Trail could do what I needed too for sure but I would want to lift it and I hate it when I get that feeling and start dumping all kinds of money on a 4x4, once you start doing stuff it never seems to stop.
This is hoping I get employee pricing AND can find one in Metallic Grey (or whatever the official color name is).

The pro holds it's value. Just buy it! I got lucky as a dealer was sent a pro in ohio by mistake when it was supposed to go to california. I only had to wait a few days for mine. I got about 900 off msrp and i can sell my pro for what i paid for it 6 months ago. Bought my wife a jeep and got 6,000 off msrp 4 months ago and if i tried to sell that ill lose money. My point is just buy the pro even if you have to pay full msrp

Hopefully they wont make you pay for the 10k oil change, they might do that. They goad you into thinking they're comp'ing you an oil change.
The owners manual does states that if you: drive often in dusty conditions; or frequent cold starts in <32 degrees F, it is recommended that you change oil every 5k miles. My service advisor gave me the choice to pay now or later.

It will all depend on if I can find one in the color I want...at the right timing too, because I am going to sell my Jeep Rubicon as close to possible as grabbing the 4runner. So if its one of these wait for months to get a TRD Pro, I may end up having to decide between a Trail or Trail Premium...but crossing my fingers. Big fan of the metallic grey TRDP
If I get a TRDP the idea will be to not sell it, and drive it into the ground for the next 20 years. I know resale on any 4runner is insane, I sold a 98 a few years ago with 170k miles for nearly $8k. Broke my heart but needed the cash fast...but there are few 17 year old trucks with that many miles you can put up for sale and get $8k in a hurry!

Just did the same. Sold my Rubicon faster than I was hoping. It was lifted and had all kinds of AEV goodies. My TRD "should" be here by end of May. So I bought a little Ford Escape with 120k miles to hold me over a few weeks. Then I'll sell it to my 21 year old. She's stoked and I have a ride until I get my TRD.

I was just sitting outside my office and saw a sand TRDP drive by. First one I've seen in real life. Very sharp!

First person that I let look at my Rubicon wants it, and is willing to wait 2-3 weeks to see if I can find a TRD Pro 4runner so I still have wheels...but living in LA looks like Im gonna get the "everyone pays $5k over sticker here" dealio

Time for you take a little road trip and get the hell out of that area! Expand your search area and make it a fun road trip if you can find something you like. Many around here have done that and saved lots of $ not buying from douche dealers.

I was watching cars.com like a hawk everyday. When a pro is on its way to a dealer it automatically gets posted on cars.com in advance usually. Sometimes those pros posted on cars.com are pros someone ordered already and sometimes not. This is how i got mine quickly.
