Is there a safe product that makes tires shine like new?

I recommend this stuff, I have bought 3 different products for my cars from them and they all work great, have hardly any smell and work really well.

Yes - a wee bit of a lift. I put in the toytec trd pro 2" leveling kit with the back springs swapped out for the SAW 1.5" to comp for the weight of the bumper. Not sure the back springs really only gave me a 1.5" lift though - ended up with a lot more rake angle then I hoped for. I still have a Gobi rack that is going on which is MIA due to the flooding here in houston - going to wait to let everything settle and see what the weight of the rack does but I may very well end up swapping the back springs back to the factory ones to get rid of the rake.

FYI I also answered my own question about the skid plate - it doesn't jive with the shrockworks bumper - I may be able to cut some of the top lip off of it...bend it up a little and get a couple longer bolts and get it on.

Shockworks has an engine skid that replaces the TRD skid....which they failed to mention and IMHO they should include on the bumper order page of their web site so idots like yours truly will know the TRD skid becomes a giant ash tray after the install.

Right now I'm thinking I should have invested in a snorkel instead of the bumper and lift!

Thanks for the info on the lift. Good luck getting it balanced with all the extra gear. I hope you can get the skid plate back on - I got a bit carried away and made mine extra fancy! It looks pretty cool on the truck.

Nice to see I'm not the only one that traveled to get it. Of course I looked local, but none wanted to play ball. As soon as I widened my search radius, found 3 that were willing to deal and 1 of which beat the other 2. Dealer was 300 miles away. They honored the deal and didn't play games, so it was worth it. Getting it reg'd and titled today. Local tint shop quoted $80 to do the 2 front windows, they used to do it for $60 but price increase due to him using "premium" tint yet tint shop 40 miles away would do $50 for their mid-grade non-metallic tint.

I used Rustoleum Professional Safety Red. Bought a small can at Lowes. Applied it with a 1/2" hobby brush. Here is a pic from about 20' away, eye level perspective. I zoomed in, but this is about what you see from the street.

On another note, does anyone know if all 4Runners are 50 state emissions compliant? Otherwise CA would not allow you to register the car in state.

I got a good deal ($800 below MSRP,) but not a screaming one when you consider I'm shipping it down. This 4Runner is on the lot and ready to deliver now. I actually have a refundable $500 deposit on a white one in CA, but it's $2k over MSRP (down from $10k) and they don't have an arrival date yet other than "next month". Besides, I wanted Quicksand anyway, so as soon as paperwork is signed, I'll cancel the other one.

And yes, all 4Runners have 50 state emissions - that was the first thing I looked into.

That's better than paying 2000 over MSRP in CA and even though you have to ship it, as least you got the exact color you wanted. Congrats!

Weird, but I was trying to find out also if all 4runners were 50 state compliant since I was about to look out of state too. So I called Toyota and was talking to them for like 15 minutes going back and forth b/t the rep and her supervisor and she finally tells me that some are and some aren't and would need the VIN to verify. I couldn't believe it took that long and still the answer was not definitive. Great that you found out otherwise!

How come I'm not seeing the TRD in any comparison mag's? I know it's pretty "rare" but not that rare that it's unknown. Like just the other day I got MT in the mail. They have the $84K LC against the $42K Wrangler. Surely the TRD would be the better choice as they would be cross shopped. I did, I opted for the TRD bc the Wrangler is slower, looks 20 years old, rough ride, interior looks cheap, and build quality is questionable.

When anyone is inquiring about a TRD PRO at a dealer are they saying they can guarantee color or options?

I have this one going out tomorrow for a customer in the exact color and with the exact equipment they wanted.

I have been emailing/calling dealers all over the country. Many do not have what they say they do on the car buying websites or their dealer websites...

I have a deposit on one in NorCa for $41,600 +TTL.... They called today someone backed out on one (they thought), and I was just about to buy the plane ticket when they called back to say no go...but one is coming end of May and they are fed-exing me the paperwork this week supposedly to sign the deal, since I will be in Canada on a bear hunt when it arrives. Once I return I will fly north, and drive down the coast. In the end getting it under MSRP, plus plane ticket, plus gas, still should be saving a boatload over the LA/OC $5-10k markups over sticker. Plus less of the shady factor, and getting color I want. It seems many CA dealers offering me to reserve had white ones, and I really wanted grey, and secondarily would have taken quicksand.

There is a dealer in Arizona that does sticker price and lets you reserve and they seem to get quite a few, and someone else has mentioned it on here. That was going to be my next shot, as a flight to Phoneix and the drive back is about the same as going to NorCa. I just think the scenery from NorCa down the coast will be prettier.

Unless you have daddy warbucks or are a trust fund baby in this area, it seems the best option is to travel.

Did you do any prep work? Why did you pull off rather than paint in place?

I drove one and a half hours from my house in Brandon FL, to a Toyota dealership (I will not mention the name) to check out a 4runner TRD PRO, after emailing and being in the phone with one of their salesman for almost a week. After I got there yesterday around 1:30 pm and drove around with the guy in his golf cart for about 15 min as he was trying to "find" it, I waited another 20 min untill he came out with his supervisor to tell me a bs excuse of why it is not available and that I should really check out what they had available in stock (mostly limited and sr5). I took a deep breath and turned around and left.

If the valve caps are green, that is signifying Nitrogen.

I purchased one at sticker in AZ and had it shipped to CA. The only hassle was I had to get it smogged and the VIN verified. Otherwise, it was a simple and smooth transaction.

You will have to confirm with the dealer but would still need to get it smogged in CA and a VIN verification done prior to registration.

I did this to mine, left the lettering alone and painted the rest with Duplicolor Black.
