4runner TRD Pro

My sentiments exactly. I got $1,500 off. Even at the '16 pricing on the T4R Pro versus a fully loaded Tacoma DC TRDOR with Premium and Tech, the 4Runner was a no brainer and better buy. Now, with the '17 Taco PRO pricing basically the same as the '16 T4R Pro pricing, it just doesn't make any sense. I've always said the new Taco was overpriced.

Totally agree as well. You can get a Tundra TRDP for $45,000 why spend $43,000 on a Taco TRDP? That's unreal.

I'm curious who is waiting to order a 2017 TRDP?

I am considering one as my next vehicle but haven't fully committed yet. I go back and forth between a 2017 TRDP or a 2013 Land Cruiser, both would be the same price and the Land Cruiser seems like a better value.

I'm definitely in the "ready to order a '17 TRDP" camp. I'm a huge fan of the current gen-5 styling and the 4.0/5-speed combo. There's nothing wrong with my current ride ('05 Sport)....my plan is to run the '05 during the winter months and the the '17 the rest of the time. :becky:

Really hope they bring back black as a color option. Searching for a black 2015 trd is few and far between paying the same if not more for a used one with mileage on it.

I'd take the LC

I know only 1/3 of the 2015 TRD Pro's were black.

I am not sure of total numbers but here is what I had heard, only 3000 TRD Pro's were made in 2015 and only half of those came to America. So if those are true numbers then there would only be about 500 black TRD Pro's...

I know where one of them is :)

Looks good. I realize you have to pay to play, but hard to not just buy one new for the same amount. One year newer and one more year of warranty coverage. I just have to get over trying to get black, white is my second choice guess my decision is being made.

I originally had an SR5, but it got totaled in June so i searched high and low for a Black TRD Pro to replace it, found a smoking deal.

But the reason most are just as much as a new one, is that when the 2015's came out it was the first year and dealers charged $3-7000 over MSRP so that's why the used prices are $42-45000.

White was my second choice if I couldn't get a deal on a Black.

Thanks for the knowledge.

Many dealers charged markups over MSRP on the 16s too.
But Homey don't pay that!

I love the LC's, but you cant go wrong with either

Basically the 4Runner became the traditional industrial Landcruiser(Everything FJ80 and prior) and the LC100 and above turned into a luxury off-roader. LC is a little large for the trails. 4R seems to fit the better in size.

The ride is better on the LC's for everyday driving.

I thought these were only built for the US market?

I thought these were only built for the US market?

I was told half for US other half for the rest of the world, but i could not find anything online to confirm or deny.

The only thing official i ever found from toyota was this on the FAQ page...

"How many TRD Pro Series vehicles will be built? How can I get one?

Approximately 3,500 Tundra TRD Pro Series vehicles will be produced. Over 3,000 4Runner TRD Pro Series vehicles will be produced. Over 1,000 Tacoma TRD Pro Series vehicles will be produced. Availability will be limited, so please contact your local Toyota dealership if you are interested in stepping up and becoming a pro!"

I believe a lot of people are missing the point here... if a manufacturer is not willing to number a vehicle (#1 of 500 for example) then it's not technically a limited production run vehicle.

Toyota explicitly states "OVER" not "Limited To" in its marketing because they knew if they attached a number to production people would misread it and feel like they were getting something special and also it provides them the flexibility to produce more than the number... so if the public wants more than 3,000 for example, you can order it and they will build it and take your money.

My guess is there's quite a lot more in circulation each year than 3,000 in the US, probably more like 10,000 or 15,000. I have no evidence to support this number other than the language of the previous post and the fact that Toyota obviously saw the sales and marketing genius of attaching the "TRD" logo to a model, which is why we now have a "TRD Offroad" model 4Runner for 2017.

If you think the TRD Pro model is the most limited produced 4Runner ever, you're only kidding yourself. This doesn't mean no one should buy it... heck, I may buy one, but I'll know what I'm buying when I do and not going to let some salesman feed me a line of BS about a vehicle I know more about than he does from every aspect.

Are you implying we're not beautiful and unique snowflakes? NOOOOoooooOOOOOooOOOOOO!
