Personally, I think skipping the floor mats is a good idea. Plain rubber with "TRD' on it, flat profile, not useful to me. I have a set I'd be happy to sell you. Your choice, rubber and/or the carpeted ones, i went with Huskyliners for more protection from mud/really wet boots. The chrome exhaust tip has grown on me, I'm liking it now but almost bent it up going wheeling a few weeks ago. I also place higher value on rear cargo volume so i skipped the rear sliding tray, but the tray is convenient, just not willing to give up 3" of cargo.
I did have the cargo cover to keep the looky loos from checking out what I have in back even though I tinted the windows down to 5%.
The roof rack cross bars I thought I needed, still haven't used them, and the rooftop cargo box I bought from a neighbor can't use the factory bars so... Again, for sale because It just isn't getting used like I thought it would.
Again, personally the TRD Pro package in plain jane form is perfect. It had everything I wanted and nothing I didn't. I wanted auto headlights, pleather seats, no sunroof, factory lift/warrantee, "upgraded/offroad" tires, TRD wheels.

ZERO! The sliding rear tray takes up quite a bit of cargo space and personally I feel that everything else aftermarket is similar in price and usually better. Everything from sliders/sidesteps, all weather mats and remote start can be found aftermarket for a better value. (Shrockworks/weathertechs/compustar pro T11/)

Yeah! Sunroof!!! Most of time I don't care about a sunroof because it just bakes me, but there are times where it's nice to see scenery and at night, etc.

Get the Toyota floor LINERS not the rubber floor mats. I have the liners and they fit really well. They can be found on Ebay/Amazon for $105-115 for the set

Save the $ and buy either Husky, Weather Tech or Rough Country floor liners that you will buy later on no doubt. Save the exhaust tip forlater, the mod to move the tail pipe from the back of the rig to the right (passenger side) will be needed later if you don't want the smell of exhausts in your rig when you roll down the back window. Just buy it as is and then spend your $$ on mods......because it's what you will end up doing anyhow. Welcome to to your new favorite waste of time! :surfer:
i can attest the toyota rubber mats are pretty terrible. the driver and front passenger mats are fine, but the rear seat mats move all over the place and are too small. the trunk mat also does not stay in place which i find to be very annoying.

You mean they all come with TRD Pro floor mats correct? Ours had carpet mats that said "TRD Pro" on them, but they were quickly replaced with weather tech.
I know that a car isn't a great investment in the first place, but wouldn't it be a terrible idea to buy a 2017 knowing that 2018 will be next generation? Also curious why nobody else is complaining about no LED DRL's like every Lexus, Audi, Mercedes, Kia, Hyundai, etc all have nowadays?

It would be a terrible idea purchasing a 2017 knowing a redesign 2018 is about to enter the market. Typically the last years model will have a significant hit in value. Toyota has been very conservative in their products, that why you don't see high tech stuff such as DRL's. It's all marketing they force you to buy the Lexus brand if your seeking the innovative gadgets.

Terrible idea? Not in my opinion. I was in a rush to buy my 2016 TRDP before the next generation (I thought it was coming in 2017) comes about, as I wanted the reliable and durable old-school powertrain. I am afraid that the next gen 4RNR will have the same drivetrain as the current taco. And worse yet, possibly getting the parts from the same plant as the current taco and not Japan.

Exactly! No way I wanted that 3.5 Camry motor from the Taco in my 4rnr with that six speed taco transmission that can't decide which gear it wants to be in. I just bought a 2016 Trail in November. I plan on keeping it a long time so resale value means nothing to me at this point. Also the "new" version of the 4rnr could have a unibody, or as Toyota describes it, monocoque construction. No thanks.

Has someone experienced a really annoying noise (like metal on metal, rattle or even like if the door was open) when driving over bumpy roads? It seems like something inside of the interior hatch panel is loose. PLEASE HELP!! this noise is driving me crazy.

If you have your cargo cover installed try removing that to see if that is the culprit.

I have taken absolutely everything out of the rear of my vehicle including all the tire changing stuff and I still have this rattle/noise. Next, I'm going to make sure the spare tire is fully secured. After that it's going to the dealer to find.

Same here, I even folded the rear seats because I thought they may be causing it but they weren't. I also have checked the spire tire and it is okay. It does not have the cargo slider though.

I was referring to the cargo cover, perhaps you have already removed that, but I just wanted to clarify.

While I can definitely see short-term arguments for poor resale of the last in a generation, the above would be my reasons for sticking to it. Proven performance and solid aftermarket.

X2 brother! It's possible the gen-5 runners might also become desirable commodities moving forward.....rugged good looks, bullet-proof engine and drivetrain, BOF construction, japan built.....similar to the FJ's of the 70's and early 80's. Time will tell, but I'm putting my $ down on a '17.:biggrin2:
