4runner TRD Pro

The market for the Pro near me is straight up comedy! I have talked to four dealers in the last week that will be asking a 10k premium!?!?! One dealer told me they have a verbal commitment of 8k over msrp.

I left the state and have a deposit on a Cement. All I was told it may take a very long time. Which it probably will... I have seen a Cement on PCH in Malibu with the same dealers plate.

The demand is crazy! And people are actually paying those prices! I got super lucky with only a 3 week waiting and MSRP pricing. First 2 dealers I found with them allocated wanted $5K and $8k over MSRP.

Mine supposedly arrived at the Bay Area port today. Hopefully not too long now! My 04 daily driver is getting picked up on Saturday by the new owner. Toyota is giving me a loaner until my Cement Pro arrives.

My cement pro is on the same boat as yours (scheduled vessel arrival 2/7, port 2/10). I went through Fremont Toyota, fairly painless and no gouging for the first 2 they sold (mine is the second). They have a Barcelona Red coming soon too if anyone is looking for one, and as of yesterday it wasn't sold.

Why is it going to Wyoming? Is that where the dealer is?

That's nice of them. I wonder if Toyota of Berkeley will do the same for me. By the way, thanks again for posting about them having a TRD Pro. I didn't get that one, but I got the next one.

When I tried to buy the first cement pro Berkeley had they were jerks. Plus they wanted a $3K adm. Be careful with them!

My BRM was delivered today. No shock issues. 3 miles when i took delivery.
Off the boat at PDX.

One more week until mine arrives at the port. I'm hoping they turn it around quickly.

Does anyone know where they arrive in California? Is it in Northern California or down in Long Beach?

Mine came through the Benicia port. I picked it up in Antioch a week later.

Awesome!! Was is Terry that helped you out?? He was super helpful in finding mine and I told him I would at least send someone his way

Yeah I went to Terry and told him that you sent me.

SF Toyota still has a 2016 Cement listed for $55,000--they're crazy if they think anyone will pay that.

They weren't jerks about it, but they still want $3,000 over MSRP. I've called a bunch of dealers in the Bay Area and they either have no idea when they'll get another one or they've already sold their allocations, so I'm out of options :\

Putnam Toyota won't budge under $5,000 over MSRP and doesn't even know when they'll get their next allocation. SF Toyota, as I mentioned earlier in this post, has lost their minds.

I didn't deal with Terry so maybe he is cool. I dealt with Rudy who made promises over the phone then stood me up for our appointment. Then Ben who knew nothing about the Pro and was rude about the whole thing. I fell for the classic bait and switch with berkeley and wasted my time. Glad you had better luck. Fremont sold me my cement pro at msrp ($20 under actually, LOL). They have a brm pro coming!

For all those who are still looking for their Pro.
Have you used the cars.com com feature?
Go to cars.com->search cars for sale->select: new, toyota, 4runner, no max price, all miles from, and enter your zip and hit search. From the results->hit trim (left hand side)->select TRD Pro->apply. Now shows all TRD Pro's in their system currently at 45 (3 show in CALI for example). You can then filter by price, distance, etc... Good luck to those looking.

Red trd pro incoming at Burien Toyota in WA if anyone is interested. Dealer sent me a message.

Also to take this a step further you can set up an alert that will email you when a Vehicle matching your parameters is posted. This is how I got my 2017 Cement. Got notified via email at 6:00 one was in stock. Immediately called the dealer when they opened to confirm. A few hours later it was mine.

Can someone help explain to me this idea of modifications being done "at port" - I think someone said the Trail is turned into TRD Pro at the port, by "TRD" and not by Toyota? This sounds like nonsense to me.

The TRD Pro is a totally different truck (mine is Canadian). TRD Off Road has KDSS, the TRD Pro doesn't. In the US, TRD Pro has no sunroof, but TRD Off Road does.

The idea that these trucks are modified "at port" odesn't make any sense. Why would they be hacking up brand new trucks outside the factory. It's nonsense. No way Toyota would sell trucks like that.

I don't see "TRD Pro" as a trim option.

Edit: it only shows up if I do "any distance" first.

The TRD Pro design and builds at port are signed off by Toyota. So it is ultimately Toyota.

Checkout the Toyota videos on youtube from the 2017 Chicago auto show and you will see some of the TRD models from the TRD design teams.

Apparently some shocks were installed wrong at port so then people starting calling cutting bumpers at port a hack job.

The TRD port crews work for Toyota so I assume they are well trained professionals who mod 45k vehicles built in Japan.

The 2017 TRD Pro 4runner is in the 4runner brochure. Its a real Toyota!

Built and backed by Toyota.

Toyota ships these trucks from Japan with normal suspensions/wheels/tires. They get the TRD PRO treatment at the port. I'm fairly sure this is a way around having to register it differently in the US as a separate model. Not sure on that part though.
