4Runner Venture

Coming from someone who probably hasn't served anything other than themselves... or maybe just a fast-food cheeseburger...

My sincerest apologies that "cliches" of patriotism, pride of country, and honorable service have so annoyed you and other snowflakes...

You internet "heroes" are why I typically don't engage in forums often. I guess I'll leave it there...

Oh lord.

You're not wrong about being, offended, but that's the culture nowadays. I get that.

Yes, I have served, I thought you would have noticed that with my post signature. That's part of the reason I made the joke, because I literally have seen that behavior with my own eyes and it's an easy target, and sometimes it helps to poke fun at ourselves.

If people can't take a joke, well, might as well not leave the house and cancel your internet!

The whole "I protected you, bow down to me" thing is very off-putting. It would be nice if people would stop looking for a fight about freedom when there isn't one to be had. It doesn't help the look when there are vets attacking other vets about not serving, it just looks plain stupid.

Throw whatever decal you want on the side of your car, it doesn't make someone a terrorist for thinking it's tacky.

Thanks for your service Brick.

Well now you're just a caricature... the only 'triggered snowflake' here is you. Dude just said he didn't like a sticker and you're in here calling people traitors or something...

Just as cliche as veterans that remind you of their service!

I kid of course but, well, not really.

Hah i have the lamin-x fogs but dammit a real Pro grille so i guess it evens out?

hehe I have a white trail with yellow lamin-x fogs and a lightbar behind the grill. Only thing i'm missing from the cliche grab bag are a set of KO2s!

Well sure but cliche or not, I'm sure those KO2's are more than functional. I've never owned a set myself but that might be what i pick after this stock set is used up.

I'm working on the Antman anytime fogs mod so I'll actually get to test them independently, but there's not much fog here so that might have to wait until after the move.

Wait isn't this about the Venture edition? hah ok:

Overlanding is just car camping (as one user has said in their sig but I forgot who just now). It's funny to me that the whole Overlanding trend has reached the apex of popularity that major auto manufacturers are now getting in on the action. I wonder just how much longer will the trend last?

Yup. 'Overlanding' at this point is just a grotesque display of consumerism. I've spent over 40 nights this year camping out of my truck, clearly I have everything I need... but I can't help but surf this forum looking for MORE :keyboard:

Also... when you're done with those dunlops... take a good look at the Wildpeak AT3/Ws. I've had 4 sets of KO & KO2s before these, and I wont go back.

Okay, everyone get back on topic already!

Lol watching a youtube review of those right now hah

Also, not dunlops for me as I meant stock for the Pro which is the Nitto Terra Grapplers. The've defeated everything I've thrown at them so far, but there's no snow here so we'll see!

I couldn't agree more.

I've unfortunately not had much of any time to camp this year, sans a handful days with my daughter due to work scheduling and other commitments, but that should all clear up after the move and hours drop dramatically. We really got this 4R because we were looking for a real adventuring truck, and we sure got it. My wife and I are both Army so we're used to not having enough of anything to be actually comfortable, so when we camp it's usually fairly bare bones. Just having a campfire when I'm cold is good enough for me - a luxury never afforded when on training rotations.

It's laughable to me the juxtaposition of 'tactical' this and 'molle' that alongside a $2k internally mounted fridge and all the other flashy gear, as well as the importance of the 'movement' placed upon social media participation. I love to explore and travel as much as the next person, but Overlanding has always been more about being seen than seeing things.

You have to love Toyota, trying to squeeze every last dollar out of this generation before the totally new model arrives early next year. " Hey, lets put a roof rack on it and paint a few bits black and charge 2 grand extra"

This.

Thanks for your service. Perhaps a “service icon” that takes up half of my iPad screen would be a more appropriate way to signal the snowflakes?

They're not "blacked out' per se, they just use black parts from other 4runners. 2010-2013 trails have "flat black" plastic handles. They fit any 4runners... part # 69211-60080. Painted 'gloss' black part # is 69211-60070-C0

I've been trying to confirm that the flat black 69211-60080 door handles would fit a 2019 4runner to no avail. Called dealerships and they said it won't fit, but I assume its because the part is tagged to 2010-2013s. Can someone else confirm? I really love the look of your trail themaestro.

I am by no means an expert, but as far as I know, the door handles are the same on the 10-13 as the 14-20. Its $28, I'd just buy one and try it.

Someone did mention that on the newer models, some come with a button or a sensor of some kind for keyless entry/locking. I am not familiar with that at all.

Anecdotally, I can say that my 2010 handles are identical to my buddy's 2015, except his are the factory painted, and mine are the flat black.

EDIT: OK, I looked it up, if you use the 2019 parts catalog, the flat black isn't an option because it wasn't offered. However, the part number is the same, just the part of the number that references color changes. So I'd put money that the 2010-2013 flat black handles fit, its just that because flat black wasn't offered as a factory option, it doesn't come up under 2019. 69211 is the part, the second set of digits is the location, and the last characters reference the color

Curious if you bought the handles - I'd like to do the same.

For the venture,
Is there a way to "un-black" out the emblems?

I was trying to decide between the off road (premium) and the venture...
for the wheels and the predator running boards the price is worth it...
just dont like the basket, nor the blackout emblem.

Is there a way to replace the rear "4runner" with oem silver ones?

Just buy silver emblems.
But if it's that big of a deal, why not just get a different model?

What is the price difference between this and an SR5?

I just bought the offroad premium.

Im trying to find those trd wheels
I think this is the part number...PTR20-35110-BK

but when i put in 2020 4runner it says does not fit the model!:suspicious:

Given that I paid 37.5K for a new 2013 Trail with KDSS and a sunroof, these prices are absurd. That upgraded interior can't be worth that much.

The matte black and the grey ones should still fit all 5th gens. A lot of sites haven't updated their fitment tables.

Depending on where you check, some will say it does while others leave don't even show 2020 models.
