4runner vs Ram

Had another thread with the 4runner and our Jeep WJ.
Did the same this morning with the Wifes 07 Dodge Ram 2500 crew cab long bed 4x4 with 5.7 hemi. I honestly don't like that truck, but it's hers. I rarely drive it.

Have to replace the water pump on the Ram. Grrr....

worked at a dodge dealership parts dept while going to college. Handled the warranty parts & claims, dreadful. witnessed 2 separate customers in the 2 years I served time at that hell hole, abandon their trucks in the service drive. The name Dodge says it all.
 
I've watched enough scotty kilmer at this point to know that no amount of hemi power is worth the chance on a dodge or ram vehicle
 
The Hemi has some sort of oil starvation issue associated with cylinder deactivation. Owners usually complain after 100k miles.

I have a Cummins Megacab. It can easily tow whatever I want. Had to buy a trickle charger for the batteries. Rarely drive the truck. The 4runner is great to drive and park.

I heard it was that they put some things too high and oil doesn't get up to them at low RPMs.

I also heard that cylinder deactivation causes a lot of wear in general. It's taxing on the starter and the cylinders that get deactivated don't get lubed enough for some reason that I don't remember. And it's always the same cylinders that get deactivated. They don't change it up to even out the wear, so the one cylinder wears at an accelerated pace which can trash the engine even faster.
 
From my research, the roller cam issue is in its design. The cylinder banks are too 'flat', not as pronounced of a 'V'. This leads to less than optimal oil 'splash' to the cam/lifter compared to more conventional design.
Ours doesn't have the cylinder deactivation feature, so that helps.
We do frequent oil changes. So far so good.
All in all a solid truck with a solid (stiff, uncomfortable, we hate it) suspension. The ride is horribly harsh. But load the bed with 10 bales of hay and climb the hill to home (12 mile, 6% grade) without straining. It's intended for towing so it shines with the horse trailer hitched.
