FJCruisers, on the other hand, is 100% enthusiast. You won't see people buying them for the practicality or to pick up the kids from soccer practice...people buy FJ's because they're enthusiasts.

MOST of the new FJ's I see have either college kids or moms driving them.
Must be an Orlando thing.

Now the older Cruisers on the other hand....

Yeah, if I see any nice T4R's I wave, but always get a WTF glare. Out of the many runner's that I see, only about 1% of them are modded, but even then, I'm like the only member on this forum from my island as far as I know...

ive done the jeep wave and the motorcycle wave...

sometimes i look at other 4runner drivers and think to myself... "You are unworthy to be driving such a capable car!!!"

I've waved at a few runners, If I wave it has to be modified to the point where I know they are looking at my truck as much as I'm looking at theirs (hope that made sense)...

Totally agree here. Because 90% of the time if I try and wave at a stock/slightly modded 4Runner I get the weirdest looks in return. It's too common a vehicle (at least where I live) for a wave to catch on

If it has lift, tires, rims, roof basket, colored emblems, the sound of a deck-plate mod, etc... they deserve a wave, I figure they will most likely understand what it means.

Yeah, cause everyone knows a roof basket and colored emblems means you're a hard core 4wheeler.

ha! There are so many modded Yotas here I'd get carpal tunnel waving to all of them...
I give the 2-finger wave, but I find that unless you are off pavement, few respond.
I do however notice a smattering of eye-f*cking from stock 3rd gen'ers realizing what they are missing
Old-school owners seem to be the most aware - simply because they know they are driving something unusual and deal with it accordingly.

I tend to wave with two fingers at any sharp looking Toyota, especially 4Runners, but most of them are soccer moms and don't get the craze.

I read on a Facebook group that many early 4Runner enthusiasts started waving to each other with 4 fingers up and their thumb tucked into the palm. Not sure when it started or if it ever caught on much but I thought was pretty cool and original and helps distinguish from other vehicles, like Jeeps, bikes, and boats. Let's get it started!

What's next, retrofitting Jeep "angry eyes" on a 4Runner ?

It's only a month into MC riding season,and I'am already sick of "the wave" MC riders do,I'm riding my bike not waving at people,,,last thing I need would be every 4Runner I see giving me some sort of Jeep inspired wave lol

I wave to all moded Toyotas just accustom to doing that from my Tacoma days. I ran a few a stop with him at lights with a 2nd gen XRunner, it was entertaining; of course we were on a street where no one can turn in front of us.
