4Runner Wave

So, does anyone have an urge to wave at fellow 4Runner drivers you meet on the road? Anyone think it might be cool to have a unique "4Runner Wave?" Maybe something like tucking the thumb into the hand and showing 4 fingers?

Just a thought... maybe a stupid one, maybe something that could catch on? Any other ideas?

lol Nope, never seen a 4Runner-exclusive wave...I do have the 'low' wave when I meet a fellow motorcyclist and the basic wave passed between boaters (when in their boats and on the water) in my arsenal tho.

Personally, I don't think a 4Runner wave would catch on any more than a Focus wave, or Mazda6 wave or the LX570 wave either. Primarily I don't think it would catch on because the other 2 existing "customary waves" (bikes/boats) are associated with the "freedom" one experiences from a enclosed auto/vehicle. AND, they're associated with vehicle types (motorcycles and boats) and not brands or models...there's not a Harley wave and a Yamaha wave, they're the same basically. Same for boat brands. Doesn't matter. If you own a boat/PWC and are on the water, then you "wave" at anyone you come across that would see it (ie: is actually looking at you when you meet/pass), not just folks on the same brand of watercraft as you.

I've done it and you just get a wierd stare unless it's another yota nut you waved at but for the most part it's soccer moms reaching for their cells to call the police.:lookout:

agreed. if i wave to another 4runner they look at me like there's something wrong with me. kinda sad how paranoid people get when you're jsut trying to be friendly and say what's up.

The 4runner, although nice, is too common.

I have experienced the motorcycle wave, the boat wave, the Camaro SS wave and the Jeep wave. I don't think the 4runner has enough of a die hard following to get a wave going. Too many people get them as daily soccer mom vehicles.

I've waved at a few runners, If I wave it has to be modified to the point where I know they are looking at my truck as much as I'm looking at theirs (hope that made sense)...

if it's just a lift and tires, no wave

If it has lift, tires, rims, roof basket, colored emblems, the sound of a deck-plate mod, etc... they deserve a wave, I figure they will most likely understand what it means.

I got a wave from a guy in a highly modified 80 series on Monday morning. Pretty sure it was a 'you look like you wheel your Toyota too' type wave. I flashed my lights in return.

In Australia, Land Rover Defender owners pretty much ALWAYS wave to each other. I'm convinced it's a 'I sympathize with you for what you are going through driving this thing' wave.

I was a big fan of the jeep wave when i have my lifted grand cherokee and my lifted Wrangler. i was kind of hard to explain to people that didn't own a jeep why the heck im waving to a total stranger. I have have the Firefighter wave in my arsenal being a volly firefighter we have license plates on the front of our cars we all wave at eachother whether we are in the same department or not. I don't think that the 4runner wave would work though because i don't see too many 4runners that would recipricate the wave. most in my area are driven by retirees and moms.

See, I do the two finger off the steering wheel at anyone with a modded truck/4Runner, sometimes works, sometimes it doesnt, or if I notice someone looking, Ill give them the 2 finger wave.

I try to wave at 4Runners but only have limited success. I have waved to a few cute girls in 4Runners, but they didn't wave back.

I think the 4Runner is a cult car, even if it is fairly common. You can pretty much safely wave at a modded 4Runner and know that he gets why you are waving.
I actually find a have a deeper respect and curteous behaviour towards other 4Runner drivers than any other car on the road. No matter what the demographic of the driver, my brain registers 'cool person'. I dont feel that way about other Z4 drivers though when I am out in the Z4, even though its a more unusual/unique vehicle, perhaps its as Jeremy Clarkson puts it "BMW drivers are c#cks!"

well yeah, but i think you'd get a weird look if it were a stock runner...but a modded runner, it's safe to say he's an enthusiast...

FJCruisers, on the other hand, is 100% enthusiast. You won't see people buying them for the practicality or to pick up the kids from soccer practice...people buy FJ's because they're enthusiasts.

Yes it happens here, the stares and waves from jeeps are great. And Hell No!

I see 4Runners everywhere I look here. If something like that was to be done here it would have to be saved for the modded ones.
