4runner won't shift in cold

I have a 1995 with manual transmission. In the morning when it is cold out, i have to let it warm up for A LONG time before i am able to shift it into gear. I can't put it in to any gear, including reverse. Once it warms up it runs pretty smoothly. Any idea what causes this? I would really like to fix it if possible.

Have you checked the clutch hydraulics(master and slave)? I would check these first. Might be time for a new clutch though.

Just a shot in the dark, but there could be some water in the mix that's freezing until warm enough to melt.

:sadwave:

I have to pump my pedal a couple of times and the lift it up with my toe. And then a couple of more pumps usually does the trick.

Try draining it and use some Redline MT-90 gear oil.
It really does help with some shifting problems.

When I first got my '85 4Runner I couldn't shift from 1st to 2nd until I drove in 1st for a short distance. Changed the transmission fluid and all was good. I used Royal Purple Synchromesh.
