4Runner wont start Sometimes

I have a 2000 4Runner and I have had a Mechanic look over everything and they see no problems.

It starts fine for me 95% of time but when Its been running for a little while and then shut off for just a couple minutes and it won't start back up for a second time after that. Unless I wait and try again. It doesnt happen often but sometimes it does.

Well, when it doesn't start, it sounds like it will crank up, but it won't. It sorta sounds like its skipping or something... my truck's been to a mechanic a bunch of times, but he can't find anything wrong with it. It has a new battery. We've also taken it to the toyota dealer and they ran all sorts of tests on the engine and the computer part, and they couldn't find anything wrong.

Its weird. I just wait and try again and it comes right up! So its not like i feel worried about getting stuck with it not cranking.

Does it crank (turn over) but not start (catch) when this happens or do you engage the starter and it does not crank? If the former then I would suspect the choke and if the latter I would suspect the starter.....

Similar issue going uphill

Gen 3 4runner

Driving up a steep hill and the engine died on me, tried to start it back up and it wouldn't even crank. Waiting for about 5 minutes and started up just fine. Checked all the fluids, everything looks good.. temp is good (didnt overheat)
Had over half a tank of gas.

Worried about driving it so may have it towed into the shop..

Any thoughts?
