4runners in snow

Unless yours is different form my ‘19 you can use MTS unless you’re in 4L. Unless the road is pure ice, you probably won’t slide backwards while shifting into 4L from 4H unless you let your foot off the brake even with stock tires. Accelerating is easy, braking and steering will be harder.

The sand/mud setting can be used in 4h.....The other options are for 4lo only.

I had the pleasure of pulling out a guy with a giant Silverado pick up who got stuck in the snow near Lake Tahoe two weeks ago. With ATRAC on in 4 Lo the 4Runner is an absolute tank in the snow. I carry a set of tire chains that will work on BFG KO2 275s if needed in the rear, but I have never had to put them on once. Maybe all the armor I’ve put on my truck makes it so darn heavy that it helps, but this truck has been great in the snow.

Went up to Flagstaff to play in the snow storm a few weeks ago. Over 3 feet of snow that week.
