4Running Daily's Build Thread

That made a lot of sense, I liked it. Thank you!

Currently I'm debating running a true 4 link setup instead of the 3link wishbone.

I haven't put a lot of brain power into how I'll setup my rear, but one factor you may want to consider is a triangulated 4 link will have redundancy at the axle versus the single axle mount from the wishbone. I'm not sure of any other major benefits of either but that's one that strikes me, otherwise one half dozen or the other.

Ooooh. Pretty. How do they ride?

No idea so far haha. I was working by myself and taking breaks often. But it took me like 6 hours to install the shocks and LCA's. So I'll find out how they ride in a few days. I did have to take off my rear sway bar because the Piggybacks wouldn't clear.

Tomorrow the goal is Oil change, install Big 3 Upgrade, and wax it.

I promise you once you get the icons up front as well, the front sway bar will be taken off too. It's funner that way.

The front sway bar has been off. I daily drove the 4Runner without any sway bars at all for like a year. I just prefer having a rear sway bar on. I'm probably gonna pick up a daily driver within the next year or so. So it won't matter then.

Nice work. I got mine painted but haven't installed them yet.

I removed my rear sway bar a long time ago. I like it better without. The only thing is that your shocks now limit your down travel, and if you have more travel in your shocks than in your spings you can loose a spring, not to mention it's bad on the shocks.

Limit straps are a good idea if you can't get the sway bar back in.

So let me give you a tip when you do install them. If you just take the LCA out, you won't be able to get the new one in because the axle will move. So what I did was take a ratchet strap and connect it around the axle tube and ratchet it to the tow hitch. Worked like a charm.

So was the Big 3 upgrade worth it? Are you getting 13.2v with the key off?

Rooting for some Sun Devils today. Boo to the Cardinals. But no face paint allowed? Wow.

I don't remember what the voltage is off hand, but it's ever so slightly better. I would say 0.2 Volts improvement. But it was definitely worth because I was able to replace the tired and corroded cables.

Ya the face paint thing is ridiculous. "Don't want to offend anybody"

It better be a better huck then what you did at Azusa cyn. At least get the rear wheels off the ground, use those new rear shocks some.

That was awesome. I want the rear wheels off the ground. I should have a crap ton of travel with those shocks. I think I'm currently using my brake line as a limit strap though.
