the thing is the asking price is right if you consider that its essentially fully restored, but using modern high quality components, its got all the armor and has been modified to fit the tires its running with no rubbing. the kind of people that are on this site are not going to buy it, someone who has no intention of doing work on it them selves will, but it will probably take that person a while to buy it. the person that will buy this truck will be someone that would buy something from a custom shop, not a lowballer trying to get a deal on a stock truck. If you have the time, go ahead and wait for the right buyer. its like they say, theres an ass for every seat, and a seat for every ass.

I can understand how ya feel man and that its difficult to drive and enjoy it the way you had. I have the exact same history with my vehicle and while it isnt economically friendly it still has a sentimental value. Mine is not even close to as bad ass as yours or as capable off-road but thats not all its about. The way I look at my 4runner is that it is something that i can look at everyday and be proud of it and look forward to the future adventures to come with it. This 4runner is basically your childhood in one vehicle as is mine. I would hate myself if I ever sold it and I dont even want to think about that right now. But you gotta do what you gotta do and thats just another obstacle in life. But whatever decision you make everyone will still be here to congratulate you on how great of a ride you have and many others will continue to read this thread for as long as it remains on this website. You are an inspiration to all of us.

This is pretty much how I feel. If someone pays me close to my ridiculous asking price, they can have it. I'll go buy a Tundra or a brand new Focus ST. If no one buys it, I'll continue to put miles on it and wheel it.

But then you will deal with Jack Asses asking "will you sell it for half of asking price".... Thats why I took mine off the market. Just like the example above...

Woah! Hold on! From a guy in a very similar position as you, I can't imagine considering selling mine. Being born and raised in the same truck you still have is something special. If your anything like me, you have a connection to that truck that you will NEVER have with another vehicle, or item for that matter. I'm going through the process of selling the Mustang that I bought when I was 12 and spent countless hours restoring. It would make a lot more financial sense to keep this Mustang that will continue to gain value and sell the 4runner. I'm keeping my 4runner because I know I have a connection with the truck that I could never get back if I sold it. I think selling your truck needs to be a long term decision, not just because something else will be more practical for the moment.

I had a buddy of mine get rid of his baby cause he got married, and his wife knew what he did in it with past GF's... he had it for some 15 odd years.

Hahah I am definitely not in that situation. Tell your buddy that combining dish soap, hydrogen peroxide, and baking soda will get pretty much any stain out. :banana:

That's almost as bad of an idea as an LR3 is. At least the early LR4's had a good solid motor.

Too rich for my blood, plus they haven't been around long enough to see all the catastrophic failures they suffer like the LR3's and Discos, at least NOW we know what years to stay away from (10 yrs later) Plus think of all the street credit I'll get on Expo Portal if I get a Rover.

If that's true, that's stupid. Toyota's are where it's at. It's like street bike riders don't know the action is really on dirt. Same with Toy's versus LRs.

I wouldn't sell your rig. Park it, take the insurance off, and let it sit. Same effect of being "gone" if you sell it - just don't wheel for a year or two. Buy a beater Accord and move on.

Or sell it. Nothing wrong with that, but I've seen far too many regrets.

Ironically, I keep seeing members build DDs into really capable rigs, realize they can't use it all the time or it gets too many miles, and sell it. I'm beginning to wonder if there is a point where you build a vehicle that you can't afford to "beat" on it in a daily sense anymore.

Oh, btw, I think that fellow on CL needs glasses, I think he doesn't see the last zero.
