4Running Daily's Build Thread

I think I saw your rig on Phoenix CL, seems there are a ton of built 4runners for sale here lately. I call it the page of regrets and forgotten dreams.

List of things that need to be addressed if I kept it:
-4.88 Gears and a Front Locker
-Supercharger/Turbo
-Baja XRS Seats
-Sound Deadening
-Updated speakers
-App Radio 4 Headunit
-Dual Cases or a Lefty Case
-Long Travel front
-Buy a real welder
-Relocate gas tank using F150 Tank
-Link rear using ADS Coilovers
-Plate frame
-Roll Cage

Anything else?

Ironically, I keep seeing members build DDs into really capable rigs, realize they can't use it all the time or it gets too many miles, and sell it. I'm beginning to wonder if there is a point where you build a vehicle that you can't afford to "beat" on it in a daily sense anymore.

depends on the owners intentions/experience

that's exactly what I did with my 65 mustang, ruined it by catching 'mod' disease... and it just became a bunch of nice parts that didn't help each other and in the end, it wasn't done 'right' and it was too costly to just fix it right. I admit I didn't know what I wanted out of the vehicle, pushing 145hp at tires with a 1bbl i6 200ci is great, but I also wanted MPG and economy, before I got the HP, I was able to get 20c/29h in a 40+y/o car!

I've been following many builds here and I know the direction I want for 80/20 build, I'm DD'n mine, but I do want mods to help in some area's just not all.

IMO, 4Running Daily you're at a cross road, keep the car that you've known your whole life, or move on...
Maybe you should think what you really WANT out of the truck, would you enjoy the truck more if it wasn't so modified in some area's? What form could you use the truck more in (more mods vs less mods)? maybe bringing it back down to 33's with a turbo where the muffler is, someone on here did that. anyways, you should think hard what it's meant to do for you, not what else you can do to it.

I have to ask if you want to address that list of issues yet won't have any time to wheel, why tackle them in the first place? I could maybe understand adding the Supercharger and better speakers from my viewpoint.

I say buy the best tools one can afford. I had a Miller mig, sold it, big regret in doing such.

I was going to ask if you went the Focus route how the family Xmas tree would get to the house. I hope it wouldn't get a ride in the Porsche.

We both need to link the rear, you go first and figure out how. I'm going to look at the newest Ducati tomorrow.

I'm just going to rebuild my factory links and link mounts as they are all messed up from moab. plan on using ruff stuff 1/4" mounts.
