4th Gen 4WD traction control and VSC

I have done a ton of research on it. Everyone says that there is a TRAC OFF button on the left side of the dashboard. Wrong. In the 4WD SR5 there is a plug going into the master cylinder.

(I have pictures just ask if you want to see them if description doesn't make sense) then you pop open your hood, the master cylinder is the closest thing to you when you are driving. So pop your hood and go to the master cylinder. when looking at it from the driver side of the truck, there is a cable going into the MC that is in charge of the VSC and TRAC sensors of the truck. The wires in my truck(SR5 4WD) has a green and white wires inside the plug. I'm not completely sure if the car has to be off when unplugging this plug, but I have my truck off and it works. Anyways, unplug it and go turn the car on. On the gas and temp side of the dash, there will be either 3 or 4 lights that are on. Then on the left side it will say that your emergency brake is on.(it isn't) Then you are good to go have some fun. Also if you're going on a smooth road at first then getting on a dirt road, it will be VERY SHAKEY! Because vehicle stability control is disabled. Don't worry it's fine. But once you get in some dirt or mud, you won't even know your truck had that much power.

I've found the center diff lock button turns off enough of the nannies to have some fun and is easy to do. (Don't turn too sharp of course)

this has been covered hundreds of times. And you're wrong, i had a plug on my left side. Your model may not have, but it does exist.

I did this same mod, using OEM Trac Off button and wiring to the 4x4 module. I only have the VSC off light as well. Also it doesnt have an issue if i forget to unclick the button at turn off.

mines an 03, didnt have a button but the wiring was ran. All i had to do was wire the jumper from the 4x module and run it across the dash. I bought a Toyota OEM plug, made it an on/off switch and plugged it in. Works like a dream.

This is the way I plan on doing it so that I can keep ATRAC. I might make two switches though. One to disable everything, because I hate ABS off road sometimes, and one for just VSC.

Yeah, my 08 has the VSC/TRAC off switch as standard equipment. However, it is multi purpose. If you press it quickly it turns off traction control and turns on the Auto LSD. If you press and hold for 2 seconds then it turns off TRAC and VSC.

Something odd happened to mine the other day. I pressed the High 4 disable button to put it in 2wd, and when I went to drive, it felt like the emergency brake was on. When I tried to steer, the tires squealed even though I was barely moving. Re-engaged the 4 high, and all was well. Been scared to touch it since.....

it attaches to the red/white wire from the blue connector at the hidden wiring set that was existing into my vehicle already. From there it runs to the passenger side under the glove box to the 4x4 "brain" box. Shown here.

There is no 4 high disable button. There's a rotary switch on the V6 models to go from 4wd to 2wd.... What exactly did you press? Was it this?

I did this by simply jumping one wire under the hood.

Yes, I may be calling it the wrong thing, but on my 03 Sport V8, that button disengages the front drive wheels.

That button does not disengage wheels AFAIK, at least it isn't supposed to.

Correct, That is the Center Diff Lock button.. To lock the center diff and make your awd a true 4wd

I can attest to LTDSC's write up that his one wire hook-up between the factory modded button to the 4x4 computer works great! Muuuuch more simple than most are thinking...I'm glad I have this function now!
