Hey all need some opinions,
I'll be doing a suspension replacement / lift soon. I have pretty much all my parts but wondered about the top plates/strut mounts. I've seen the 120 thread about assembling the shocks and spring while installing them, and using the suspension action and a floor jack to compress the spring. It'll likely be only me doing the job, and I'd like to avoid as many "oh crap" moments with the suspension parts all over my driveway (where I won't be able to run out and pick up a tool or some other thing).
I thought about getting a mounting kit (see link) with all the top plate hardware and take them, my FJ springs and shocks to my local shop and let them assemble the front shocks ahead of time (they have the big floor model shop compressor). That way, all I need to do is drop the old ones and slide in the new, etc.... I've already asked and they could do it for a reasonable fee. What do you all think? Has anyone ever bought the kit linked below? ( I asked at the dealer parts desk and they want an INSANE amount for that top plate.
I just know my luck and I'll have my front end in pieces and some snafu will occur and I'll be stuck. This idea seems easier.
