Lol you sound like you've repeated a lot of this in your head a few times and now you know the pros and cons of every major design.

If you guys wait until I break my gears I'll tell you what the 8.0 can really handle with the ARB carriers/lockers and 35's

I started going down this rabbit hole once. Pretty sure I'm happier just saying screw it and picking the easiest option. Everything has weaknesses where something else has strengths. I'll upgrade when I trash the axle housing and have a better reason.

I know 8" properly setup is a huge improvement, but I know of several failures even post gears/lockers and careful wheeling from guys on 35s. It's not bulletproof or dependable once you start pushing your tire sizes up. Most of those failures are FJs, 2UZ pushes even more power to the rear.

If it weren't my daily, I'd care less, but I want to be able to wheel and drive it home afterwards and minimize the number of trail spares I need to carry.

Rear wiper driving me nuts

Since I can’t find another thread on this I thought the chat thread might turn up some answers or at least experience with this issue I’m having. One feature that drives me nuts is every time I start my 4Runner the rear wiper cycles one time. Typically no big deal, but I live where it’s been 20* for the past month and my wiper motor and wiper blades are struggling bc of this. And in the summer we have fine volcanic ash that is gouging the windows w every start up. Anyone that knows how to disable this feature I swear I’ll send some beer.

This is not a "feature" persay but instead a common issue and it's a sign that your battery is on it's last leg, get it load tested and most likely will need to be replaced before you get stuck out on the road in that 20* weather!

Never experienced this problem myself but I know the wiper will cycle once if it’s set to intermittent and the rear window is slightly ajar.

Alternatively you can lower your rear window prior to starting until you solve the root cause

I like this 4th gen chat be I don’t want to start a thread to ask new guy questions. Haha. So my XREAS 09 is about to hit 100k and I’m getting everything ready to do a suspension upgrade. I am copying “RandomTask” and his build. I really like using Toyota’s engineering while also upgrading so, I am putting a stock TRD PRO suspension on to keep it all Toyota and since Toyota went with Fox for the 2019 they are selling their rebranded bilstiens at a steal. I know there will be a few modifications needed to make sure everything works but I’m good with that. Just thought I’d throw it up on this to see what the experts have to say. Mostly looking for advice and to keep the chat going.

The problem with the stock TRD suspension is that the fronts are not height adjustable. You get what you get.

That's why I went with the 6112's and got 650# springs instead of the standard 600# springs. Is very nice.

I have had several solid front axle Toyota’s, my FJ62 and a FZJ80, and I got the 4Runner for convenience sake but have really liked it way more than I thought. Anyway, I am new to ifs. What is hieght adjustable? As far as I can tell I’ll be gaining 1.5-2 inches but I am not really looking for much more. After this I may go for stiffer springs once the tepui and everything is packed up. Anyway, off to google to check out height adjustable suspension.

The TD Pro front shock is a fixed height shock. You'll gain about 1.5-2" but cannot adjust it if that's not what you want. The 6112's have six clip positions you can use (and three spring weights) to adjust your height gain from 0" to about 3 1/2". You can also set each side to a slightly different height to account for the driver's side lean that most 4Runners have. For example, mine are set on the 6th position on the driver's side and the 4th position on the passenger side so my 4Runner sits level.

Here are our two. The female (left) is 4 1/2 and the male is 7 months. He'll probably be around 110# when fully grown. We just got the male a few weeks ago so they're still adjusting to each other.

Ridgebacks are the best! Funniest personalities. We just got our second and it mellowed them both out. They are both from the same litter but Echo’s owners just had a baby and wanted a more active home for her. They are 2.5.

Assuming not running extra weight just 32 PSI.

Usually 30-35 psi depending on the tire, but some run as high as 40-45, ride quality suffers typically tho since 4R's aren't really heavy enough (short of towing) to justify that pressure

Ah okay, thank you! I am running 32 at the moment; just read something on the forums with guys in the high PSI, they are probably running bigger tires and heavier load though.

Hey Guys!

So after much reading, it sounded like I shouldn't have a problem fitting 17x8 wheels with an -12mm offset. I figured I'd need to trim, but to my surprise they wouldn't clear the brakes.. Is it better to go with 17x8 and zero offset?

If it matters I'm fitting 285/70/17s with a 3" lift, and aftermarket UCAs.

Hey, back again after I installed the TRD PRO suspension. I was just curious if the reverse tire rub is normal. Before the lift on my UrbanRunner I had maybe 1.5 inches from the top of my tire to the bottoms of the fender, now I have close to 5.5 inches between the two. In reverse, after the new suspension is in, I have much worse tire rub only in reverse. Is this normal? I thought since there is more room now it wouldn’t be a problem.

My brother can professionally re-finish and clear the lenses but I dont want to make him waste his time. the driver side gave off a weird pattern (a lot of the light was focused in an upside down bowl shape) and I didn't feel like taking them apart and all that so I just bought some aftermarkets.

yeah man, people buy OEM headlights all the time. I have a set in my closet waiting to be retrofitted!

You could get anything from oem Toyota 4Runner And FJ Cruiser Front Inner CV Boot Kit 04437-60042 | eBay (Or from your local Toyota dealership)
