**4th gen cracked dash warranty replacement

How long did it take for you to get inspected? Did you need to call ahead? I'm thinking about taking mine in after work today

I made an appointment but they didn't put it in the system. They took care of it anyway. Took him 5 seconds to look at, and a couple minutes to put in system. I Brought Both Letter's from Toyota. Now I Wait...Very Easy. :drum:

Awesome! Good to hear. I have cracks just like the one at the top of the last page going nearly all the way across my dash. Think there's any reason I wouldn't be covered?

As soon as they See the Crack, they will write it Up. You should have No Issues

Walked in, they ran my VIN, took pictures and got me added to the list for replacement!

They said they hadn't done many 4 Runners, but that the ones they had done had taken a while to get the parts in. I guess I'll just call every now and then to check in on em.

I think the parts are hard to get. Supposidly, I'm #10 on the list, as of a few months ago, but that didn't make sense to me as when I went to get my inspection, even before the 2nd letter, the dealership said I was the first inspection.

Could be you're #10 on the dash replacement list (for all models) and #1 on the 4 Runner list. They probably want to dedicate as little resources as possible to the replacements since they're pretty big jobs.

Well, I was curious, so I just called to verify, The mgr said they have gotten 1 4runner dash since January. And to make matters worse, I'm number 25 on the list of 4runners to replace. He said even though I may have been the first inspection done at the dealership, they've been taking names for 2 years. I guess it was a bad decision to try and wait for the 2nd letter as directed in the first letter from Toyota.

He also said they WANT to do these, as Toyota pays them and they can gross over $500 per dash and that it takes a lot of oil changes to get that amount. He was just in a class with other dealers in the area and of course this topic came up and everyone was in the same boat.

So I just don't know what to think at this point. #25 on list and they've gotten 1 this year. My dash is peeling so badly, but it looks like its going to be years. He had no explanation why others seem to be getting them in weeks and/or months.

Wow. TIL I wouldn't think the dealers would make any money on em, but I guess there has to be some incentive to not bone the customer.

I guess I'm just lucky that mine isn't peeling, just has some large, barely-noticeable cracks in it.

I've been waiting well over a year myself. They said the southern region has a major back order and they haven't been given an ETA on parts. I've tried calling every 3 months, but it's the same message every time. I kinda feel hopeless at this point and feel it won't get done.

I have been waiting for 2 (two) years. Talked to the parts guy - over 3000 on order from this one dealer.

Think that there is still that many on the road?

I had my 04 V8 inspected this past June, the service manager said it can be well over a year to get this as they have one on order for another guy that has waited over the 1 year mark. I figure they've given us the goodwill, but waiting as long as possible with the hopes the truck will no longer be in service! Mine has 220K.....think I'll wait them out!

I was sorta thinking the same thing...they are just producing parts super slow and waiting for a lot of these trucks to die. I hoping to drive my 2004 another year and pick up a new 2018 when the next redesign happens. I would sure like to enjoy the last year of ownership with the dash fixed - mine is pealing really badly.

If this offer from Toyota wasn't put out there, I'd probably just spring for the $200 coverlay. From what I've seen, it looks pretty good. I just have a tough time paying that knowing a new dash could be on its way for free.

How long did they have your 4Runner? They told me it would only take an hour? No way... at least I am finally getting it Wednesday. I've only been waiting 14 months.
