**4th gen cracked dash warranty replacement

4runner's dashboard was replaced today. When I got home I took a closer look and noticed a gap between the dashboard and the side (pillar) on the passenger's side. It's probably about 1/2". Maybe I'm being picky or maybe it was there before and that's how it is supposed to be but I don't remember there being a gap. It fits well on the driver's side, no gaps. Should I contact the dealer?

15 months from inspection to installation. I would call every couple of months for an update but they never had any visibility (that they shared) on when my dash would come in. Took them about 4 hours from the time I dropped it off until I received a call that everything was complete.
The one downside is that they cracked the plastic in two places, including removing a corner fully, from the center dash speaker. I have yet to go back and complain about it though I won't grumble too loudly given the age of that plastic. Just feel like they should have owned up to it or replaced the part.
The service rep did say they have only done 3 other 4runners before mine but have done a lot of Camry and Sienna dashes.

I had the same problem with mine. But considering it was a 5 hour job that only paid 2.2, I don't really blame the tech too much. He kinda got shafted on the deal.

It's the normal rate for the Tech/mechanic to get paid for around 50% or in some cases even less of the time it takes for the job, the dealership gets the other part of the percentage.

I guessing that the 2 a month will increase, it depends on how fast they get the dashes in, not on how many they can do, so if the dashes start coming in more often the amount of dashes they do a month will increase.

Before I take mine for the dash replacement in the next few days, I'm going to do a video showing everything is in working order. not broken, no warning lights, no scratches, no tears/rips, no grease/dirt on anything, correct mileage etc., etc, so there will be no argument from the dealer if it comes back to me with any issues!!

Just got my dash replaced on my 2003 4Runner. I had it inspected last summer and they confirmed it was covered under the warranty. It took over 8 months, but the dealer (Eddy's Toyota in Wichita, KS) did a really good job.
I was disappointed I had cracks, as I took really good care of it (always use a sunshade and have UV tinted windows), so I was happy Toyota stepped up and took care of it. Great service.

Just had my dash replaced.. Color issue
So I requested a replacement dash under warranty last year and just had it installed last week. We have a black 4Runner with gray interior. The new dash is a much lighter black and doesn't match the door panels, AC vents, or the section that goes around the cluster. It also seems to be more of a matte finish.
Is this normal? Ill try to get some pics this evening.

My truck isat the dealer now getting the dash replaced after waiting 9 months. Dropped it off yesterday and they said it would a few hours, got a call 6 hours later and they said it would be the next day.
Got a call this morning and they left a message saying they will replace the dash and remove all my aftermarket wiring and I will have to reinstall it myself. (Lockers, lights, switches, airgauge etc) not happy about this, I don't want some tech removing items he doesn't know. Trying to call back but can't get through

Got approved for our dash replacement.....now just waiting till one arrives :-( [MENTION=1422]the_josh[/MENTION] - Good luck....sounds like BS on the stealerships part but only time will tell :-(

Got a call today that my dash has arrived! I'll be taking it in for replacement next Tuesday.
I only have a foglight switch wired up in mine...hopefully they don't have any issue with that.

If there's any non-stock modifications most all of the dealerships will put it back together in the original stock configuration and possibly toss the non-stock part/s in the trash bin, you may want to remove the mod and reinstall it after you get the 4 Runner back, if you give it to them with the mod you may not even get the switch back, when they did mine I had a Iphone charge cord direct wired in the center console and coming out under the bottom and tucked in between the driver's seat and console, when I got my 4 Runner back the charge cord was gone, I asked why it wasn't there and where it was and was told they are required to remove and dispose of non stock items/modifications when doing such work, I really didn't care that is wasn't there any longer because I didn't install it, it's was already there when I purchased the 4 Runner and I don't have an Iphone, but I sure gave them a piece of my mind for tossing my property into the trash instead of simply returning it to me un-installed!!!
I have heard of others saying much the same under similar circumstances at the dealerships but had forgotten about it when I dropped it off, so I wasn't really surprised when I saw it no longer there.

Interesting. I'll mention to them to just leave them uninstalled and to not throw them away. I do have a USB charger in the center console as well...
