iFORCE said:I don't know about this mod... I"m 6'1" and if I ever spun my car or whatever.. my head is going straight for the handle... and my head won't be very thankful for that.
I've wanted to do this cheap mod.. but I rather have my head hit airbag/flat plastic.
toybox said:That is exactly what I was thinking. In the insurance safety test they always make note if the dummy's head made contact with anything and that handle LOOKS like it could be a place to hit in an accident. Plus I have never used one in all the trucks I've owned so I don't really miss it.
GA_4Runner said:it would be pretty tough to hit my head on the handle unless I were tossed about the cabin (not likely if you are wearing your seatbelt).
toybox said:The forces in an accident are such that a seatbelt will not keep you from being tossed around. The seatbelt will keep you from being ejected or slamming straight into the steering wheel.
Have you ever watched some of the crash tests? Even with seat belts the dummy's get jolted quite violently.
GA_4Runner said:Yes, I've seen plenty of those videos.
I'm not going to say it's impossible that one would hit their head on the handle in a crash situation, but I guess I would rather hit a rubber grip handle than to hit the headliner and the very hard metal underneath.
BTW, I love your avatar. I had nothing but boxers growing up. They are by far the coolest dogs on the face of the planet. I miss them so much.....
toybox said:I agree the chances are probably very slim at best. I was kinda just guessing out loud.
Thanks about the avatar. I also have only had Boxers since I was 8 y.o.. Otto, the one in the avatar is my fifth Boxer. I really do love the breed. You should get a Boxer for yourself. If you do I can point you to an amazing breeder, truly.
Check out her site, it is like no other.

Why do you need 4 screws? Isn't it just two? Thanks
