4th Gen JBL Bluetooth

So I know this is an old thread, but Trying not to start a new one...

I have an 07 with the JBL/Bluetooth/Nav head unit. If I get the GTA or the GROM kit... can I keep my factory microphone? Will the stock fit into the unit and take over? I'd really prefer to not have a second microphone. I'm looking to do this purely for Bluetooth music playback without having to get a new head unit. Everything else works just fine to my liking.

Thanks! If anyone has any experience, also, if you had to pick... GTA or GROM??

Does your factory microphone already hook up to you phone? I am pretty sure you can use the GTA Car Kit without using their microphone. I would just double check with them first.

It does. I can make/receive calls and stuff, just can't do audio over the bluetooth, and with the new iphones... can't charge my phone and play music at the same time now. 1st world problems, but I can do it in my 3rd gen with my headunit.

Since the GTA car kit mic plugs in separately i am guessing you just leave it off. Another thing I like about the GTA is that you can plug a power cord into the unit and have it come out somewhere to plug into your phone for charging. That leaves you cigarette lighter open for something else.

Putting this here for others who may have the same question. Just spoke to GTA:

They cannot connect to the factory microphone and the unit will not take over any other radio features. So if you are listening to AM/FM you would have to switch over to cd then answer the phone. I could keep the phone connected to the factory bluetooth and switch over if receiving a phone call as well, but it obviously cannot be connected to multiple bluetooth devices at once.

GRR. I was really hopeful this would be my cure-all. I'm guessing the GROM kit will be the same but I'll call to check

From the GROM website:
" Q: The car came with Bluetooth phone capability but no streaming audio capability. If I hook up the GROM Bluetooth can I use it for the A2DP streaming only, and use the car Bluetooth for hands free calls?

A: If you have newer smartphone, you should be able to select which paired device will handle phone calls and which will handle music streaming. This is all typically done from the phone Bluetooth settings, and available in iPhone and Android phones."

So, just realized for some reason everyone here is looking at add bluetooth. I have no problem plugging my phone in to get the audio going... So, with that. I should be able to get the USB version and have audio play from the phone through there, and still have the Phone come through the HFP module in the car... I was definitely overthinking this.
