4th gen leaf sprung SAS

I'm looking forward to seeing the build progress. If you go through with it I'd be interested in your front drive train. I'm wanting to convert my 4th gen to 4wd and your drive train would make a great start

I'm confused. You don't rock crawl, then what's the point of the SAS?
Well I do a ton of forest trails with lots of really deep ruts and the occasional tree. I want bigger tires which is really hard without a SAS.
I'm not sure now if I'm going to follow through with this. I've been looking at different options and I'm thinking of rough country 6" DB lift in the front and long travel springs in the rear. I'd I use a DB I would reinforce the brackets down there so they don't get messed up. I would also use icons extended coil overs that they make for that lift to get more travel out of it. With this kit I could run 37's, but I'm worried about the cv axles at that point. So, still thinking on everything. I really want to convert my transfer case to something like the marlin lefty so that I can have 2wd, and all the selections there. It's not very advantageous without lockouts though...

If I do it it's going to be a while yet. I have to plan everything and also get a different DD so this can have some down time.

Well I decided what I'm going to do. 1 ton ford axles, homemade long arm radius arms (60" rear, 45-50 front) and 40" tires. Going to be beastly!

I sooooooo wish! Going to take awhile to get everything together. It'll happen though. Hoping to have a busy work year and have a little extra to play with.

Ha! I understand that! I wish I lived closer...I'd love to see the progress in person!

I will make sure I take lots of pictures and videos when I do it. I just added up everything for my links: DOM tubing, ballistic joints and bushings, threaded tube adapters, jam nuts... $1400. But that is using 2.25" .375 wall lowers and 2" .250 wall uppers. 3" ballistic joint on frame and 2.625 ballistic bushings on axle. Should be totally bomb proof, let me set the truck down on them and give me tons of adjustability and flex. The ballistic joint and bushings combo saves me from binding so I should get well over 35" of flex. ORI struts will keep it stable on the road and offroad. She'll be a screamin beast!

Parts list

Here's some screen shots of the parts for my links front and rear. Everything from the frame and axle mounts and in between. I liked Artec's radius arm mount better as they have an 8" separation instead of 7" and they also seem slightly more beefy. I also am ordering weld washers from them to beef up the brackets to make sure of no breakage. Wyatt at Rock Solid Toys has started doing this to all his builds and kits, and it's a good piece of mind. They only thing I may change is instead of the bolts I have in the cart here I might order the F911 bolts. Extra Beef!!

do you already have these? if not, I would hold off buying anything else, until you actually have them.

that ford reverse rotation high pinion dana 60 is going to be spendy, and possibly hard to find...

I don't and I'm not dead set on anything other than they have to be 1 tons with a driver side pumpkin. I see tons of them on Craigslist constantly too.

post up some links?

ive always thought it would be great to get the ford 60, and have the tubes swapped, so it would be a right side drop HP60.

I am thinking about doing this myself since I am a proponent of leafs. my turn my 03 v8 into a dedicated trail rig.
