Yes it needs to and a big body lift. There are a ton of builds or threads on this already. I would try the search bar, it will guide you in the right direction.

you going to need more that that Toytec 3" lift to run 35's.. If you run a search here and on 120 you will discover what you need to run 35's.

There is a reason most of us stick with 33's.

I think it would be fine, isn't the whole point of gears that it will drive like stock even with the bigger tires? I'd imagine the regear will compensate, so to speak

i regeared my silverado and it wasnt like stock afterwards. Still the resistance. It just helps obviously a little because its not as bad as before but still.

What ratio/tire size were you running and was it 2wd?

it was 2wd. Regeared from 3.23s to 4.88s. I ran 36x15.5s when i first lifted it. Then came back down to 33s which made it pretty quick. I'd chirp second any day of the week. (resulted into blowing my trans though)

Correct me if im off base, but with a 2wd, you're regearing 1 diff instead of 2, so the rear is back to stock, but the front tires are rolling (rolling the bigger tires) whereas with a 4wd if you reagear both diffs, you are transmitting regeared power to all 4 wheels instead of two so it should be closer to stock as opposed to a 2wd, does that logic hold at all?

I am running 35's with stock gearing but I have the V8. I will probably regear when I get some extra cash but it's not that bad. I just miss being slower in 4lo.

in theory it does. But the front free spins regardless the sizing of tires/wheels. It definitely improved but wasnt like zomg its way better. I could actually go up a grade without having to hammer down.

Right, but even though it's spinning, the larger tires will be providing more resistance than the stock sized ones.

I feel like I have to hammer down sometimes with 32's... :doh:

im more angry tuning companies havent figured out toyota nor really care to.

I have 35's with the 2005 V8 and have not regeared. It still has plenty of power. Not sure if it would help my MPG's much to regear, but I get around 16-18hwy (depending on wind and speed) and 14-15 city.

I see in your sig you actually wheel that thing. Ever replaced a CV in it?

Not yet, but it's bound to happen eventually. Unfortunately, I haven't gotten off road much in the last several months. I think it also helps that I haven't locked it yet so they don't get too much torque.
