Which ram mount are you using? Lookin to do the same to mount my iPhone 6s. Looked on the ram mount website but there’s to many to choose from.

I ended.up buying the long 6" arm after the fact as it for it in a position I liked better. But that plate looks the same. I added a piece of metal on the backside as support but others have not done this and it has been fine.

I use this screw-in Arkon phone mount. All of their products use the same mounting style, so you can replace the holder and moveable arms at will and keep the base installed. It is amazing holds my phone through on and offroad driving.

This is what I use mounted to a Proclip anlgled dash mount. Works great. Ran a charging wire from behind the dash and hangs a little bit. Slap the phone in and charging cable. Holds TIGHT in any terrain.

This looks great! Have you had any problems with this mount? Can you run with the phone in landscape, or will it fall out of the holder?

I haven’t had any issues, I’ve had it for a few years now.

I’ve used it in landscape mode but only on road. So I can’t say if it’ll hold that way if you’re on a bumpy road. Just don’t seem to need or want it in landscape mode much.

They have a version that doesn’t have a bottom, just the two sides, that’s what I originally had a few years ago and I didn’t like it. It held on a paved road just fine, but as soon as I was on a gravel road or worse, where there was consistent bumps, the phone would work it’s way loose and slip out of the holder.

When I got a new phone and needed a new size of holder, I went with the one with the bottom that is designed to run the lightning cable through. I haven’t had a problem with the phone coming loose with this holder, it’s much more secure.

Ahh, nice. I make relatively long (500 mi) trips to school on a regular basis, so I like to have a video or something playing in landscape mode. :juggle: Really though, I don't just watch whatever it is that is playing, it's just nice to not have the same music all the time. Plus, I generally just like to have the phone in landscape for nav and such. Thanks for the reply!

Ordered part# RAM-B-102-UN10U for larger phones, from GPS City on Amazon. Figured I’ll make a back plate for it before installing it... and get some bolts, they aren’t included.

Just did something like this past weekend. Took a screw on ball mount and put it in the bottom of the A-pillar under the handle. Then got a mount with a arm to attach to it. Matched the bolt that came out with one that is sightly longer

I bought this Panavise mount too, but I’m super disappointed how much it bounces around even just on regular roads… I’m suprised how much it sticks away from the dash I think that’s also part of the stability problem. Also the angle of the bracket is opposite of the angle of the dash so it almost looks like a design flaw, although the angle does make more sense in that you want the phone to face up and towards you. Honestly I think I would be totally happy with it if there wasn’t so much vibration and bobble. I’m thinking of cutting some dense foam to fit snug between the dash and the mount to see if that will do the trick.. but the angles will be tricky to make it look clean. I just want it to be more stable and I don’t want it to look janky.

Only issue with (any) magnetic holder is the interference with GPS.

Vehicle-specific and phone-specific mounting solution from ProClip is still the best way I have found.

GPS? like Garmin? Sorry I am noob to the navigating part, still learning.
