4th gen questions

Hello everyone. It's time to get a new family hauler. I live in the Chicago area and need something that will handle the winters. I have always been a big fan of T4R's based on looks alone. After a little research, I'm finding their beauty is more than skin deep!
I have a few questions. I have done a quick read through of the buyers guide for the 3rd gen, but not sure how it relates to the 4th. How does the 4th gen stack up to the 3rd gen as far as reliability etc.? I was sort of surprised at the prices for used T4Rs. I sort of have a mindset that a vehicle is about done at 100-150k miles, so $10k for an 04 with 150k miles seemed kinda steep. But if it'll last at least another 100k miles, it's understandable.

as far as reliability goes, theres 4runners/tacomas with the 4.0 vvti v6 that have gone in excess of 250k. the 4th gen fits right in to the toyota reliability mold, so no worries there. to give you some comparison for price, i paid a hair over 12k for my 04 sr5 (base model) with almost no options, and it had 94k on it at the time. the one that you have linked has 3rd row, the sport package (bigger brakes, spoiler, wheels) and looks very clean inside and out. i think the price is fair, and you could probably even talk them down a little and use the mileage as leverage, even though it isnt realistically as steep as you might think.
