4th gen satoshi grills for sale

Unless I missed one, the OP hasn't posted in here since May of last year, so who knows whether he's still considering making grills.

FWIW, I just did mine using the Bondo method because I was hung up on having the "deep" style grille. I'm very happy with the outcome, but based on the experience, I strongly recommend Mytoy4's method since it does away with the need to fill the large spaces on the sides and top that are created when you cut away the interior of the stock grill.

What I'm saying is that the difference in the look doesn't make up for the extra time, effort, expense, and skill required to do the deep-style grill.

Feel free to fire away with any questions, and below are pics of my truck. I used the same emblem as Mytoy4 but painted it Testors Dark Red.

You're welcome to use my build thread in my sig below. I didn't use any bondo or fiberglass. Took me about 6 hours total time from start to finish. Mine is a3D look, not just straight across, so this took a bit of time.
Also, you'll want to consider the products you use and if you're going to paint the actual grille, for those that are chrome. I had mine painted to match the body before doing my grille.

i dont know if you have seen the styles that homertaco makes on tacomaworld but i think it would be cool to do a flush without any bends or do a thin lip satoshi if i can cut it down some. im still working on removing the inside of mine in the small amount of free time i have. cant wait to have one done.

Absolutely love this grill and I am sure everyone else does as well! It's just too time consuming to hack up a grill that might not even turn out good for those of us who are less talented in this kindof stuff.

Surprised no one, or company, has got on a groupbuy for creating a mold and mass producing these that could and would still sell for the targeted $200-300 price range.

I hope you shared this thread with them. I'm not feeling the custom route and was weighing the option on an Aura grill. If they can beat the Burtman industries price with similar quality; I'd be easy to convince.

Yeah, Burtman Industries' one is nice, but $430 +shipping is more than I'm looking to spend on flare.

Just a suggestion from someone who has made a Satoshi grill. I use aluminum mess and learned that it is easy to form but turned out to be a little brittle. In some places where it was bent 90 degrees it broke. you should use steel mesh. I used the method where you do not use fiberglass.

I think $299 is a decent price for the right person. Some people are willing to pay $1600 for a Gobi roof rack that can be made by a local fabricator for $700.

I second this. We use to build some at a shop I worked at using a type of steel mesh they would get. They were fairly stout and looked great.

When I built mine, I mistakenly ordered aluminum mesh and while it was easy to form and bend, it is very brittle and probably won't hold up for very long. I don't like how it came out anyway, so someday I'm going to redo it with steel mesh (or I may just buy one of yours).

I'm all game for someone's ambitions to support themselves in a manner that's original and self taught as far as launching a small business. It's everybody's dream, really.

But let's be honest, paying anywhere near that much is only going to sift half of your market out, hence why very few grills are probably made and sold. Your best bet is making this yourself really, with trial and error. And if you do well, consider part time small production.

I think the biggest regret honestly in life is NOT taking that leap, OP. And everybody can relate on that. If you're still keeping up with this thread, I think you already have a tangible market infront of you clearly, all that's left to do is start fabbing some up. Start small, then progress from there.

I've been eyeing Satoshi's for awhile now, and will actually be fabbing my own here within a week or two. Since I can't wait much longer and none are really for sale or to my liking. But if this doesn't take off, someone will make it happen. Just keep that in mind
