4th Gen seat crash protection?

Wife is driving a 5th generation. Looking at buying a 4th Gen for myself. Noticed the 5th Gen seats are rated higher for crash protection. Anyone know what changed?

Hmm, that’s interesting. I know there’s knee airbags in the 5the gen, and I believe a newer design of airbag for the chest as well. So maybe that’s why? Otherwise, seat airbags didn’t become standard until 2008, so maybe the non airbag seats played a factor in that rating?

What I found listed all 4th Gen rear crash protection as poor. I think it's the seats? I knew about side airbags being optional. I know some things are opinion generated. Looking at you Consumer Reports. Looking to buy something to pass down to my daughter. Prefer better crash protection. Im looking at 2006 + 4th Gen. Just curious whats different compared to 5th Gen. Included link has buttons to change the year.

The poor seat rating isn't a "seat" rating, it's a headrest rating! That just means that the headrest (I guess the seat is technically included :/) didn't do a good job at protecting the dummy against whiplash in a rear-end accident.

I’d buy that. 5th gen has full headrests in he back. Very nice for that reason, but it’s a PITA for rear visibility for all the time you dont Have pax in the back. Which for me is 99% of the time.
