4th Gen Suspension Options/FAQ

3" lift Setup plus UCA

I installed my Toytec 3in Coilovers and superflex springs along with the diff drop. I can't seem to get my camber right and I don't want to ruin my expensive tires so I bit the bullet and ordered the Total Chaos UCA's hoping to solve my problem.
Anyone else run into the same problem?

Bilstein 6112 and 5100

Just purchased an 07 Sport V8/4wd and wanted a full 3" lift. After research on this forum went with bilstein 6112s up front set to highest clip for full lift, ome springs rear with 5100s. Built right UCAs because I thought i was going to need them.

I'm only getting 22" from center of hub to front fender and it only seems to be 2.5" not 3" as expected. Rear is a full 24" so it's ok.

As comparison I have my previous 2003 v8/2wd 4runner with fj coils and bilsteins 5100 set to next to highest setting and it is 22" from center hub to fender, it's also the 2003 straight fender so maybe a touch lower so actually more than 22".

Btw the ride is great but just want a full 3" up front. Is it because the v8 and 4wd? I was going to use OME and 885 springs but saw the 6112 and seemed that a great upgrade.

Here is stock pic.

Called bilstein and explained the situation and they said only one spring rate for the 4runner is 600lbs, no ther spring option. The V6 could get a max 2.75" and the v8 4wd less, 2.5" or lower max.

So now the question since I wanted a full 3" lift should a put a spacer like OME 1/4" to get 1/2" total? Or do I get the 650lb coils that come on a tacoma for the 6112? Would 650 be too much?

Thoughts?

I like the way it looks. If your measuring 22"s center to fender and the OE height is 18.5 to 19"s i'd say you are at or darn near 3"s.

Installed my Total Chaos UCA, slight squeaking on the right side everything torqued to spec. Any ideas?

Give the uniballs a small shot of triflow, if they are the uniball UCAs you will want to lubricate them regularly with that stuff. If it's not the uniball squeaking, then its the rubber bushings on the mount. You greased those right?

IMO 650# wouldn't be too much. If they come on the 6112's for the tacoma your truck's 6112's will be able to handle them even if they are valved slightly differently. But if you like the ride now and don't want to potentially change that (a 50lb change isn't much though) then a spacer should work fine.

So we did a litlle experimenting with the 6112 bilsteins.... We tried the 6112 tacoma Bilsteins springs and they were about 2" too long, that was the 650lb spring. Thought maybe we could use the shock and spring on the front but the taccoma shock body is lower and would not fit the 4runner.

So with some interesting results we found that the King spring 14" with 3"id fits the 6112. So we popped in two king 700lb springs to test and see how the ride was and if it was too stiff? If so we would just pop them out and put a 1/4" spacer and be done. Well... After my installer put in the spring and set in the middle clip he went on a test ride.... Amazing ride quality, but, in the middle clip we were sitting at the same 2 1/2" height. So he decided to go up two clicks and assmbled the shocks again. After a quick test ride... Amazing ride and 3 1/2" lift.

265/70/R18 fit with a 3/2 lift

Sorry if this has been asked I just cannot find the definitive answer.

Will 265/70/R18 fit without rubbing on stock rims? with the OME/Toytec 3 inch lift? Or will I have to throw them on and see?

Thanks

Even though your specs aren't explicitly listed below, your combo is about the same as 285/70/17 height-wise. So you may need to do some nipping and tucking, but should be okay. Obv depends on your offsets as well.

From the FAQ:

What does it take to fit x tire with x lift?
Front/Rear Lift Tire Size
Stock -
265/65R17
265/70R17* (except BFG A/T)

1/0
265/70R17* (31.6x10.4)
255/75R17 (32 x 10)

2/1
265/70R17
255/75R17

3/2
275/70R17 (32.2 x 10.8)
285/70R17† (32.6 x 11.2)
255/80R17* (33 x 10)

3/2 + 1-1.5" Body Lift
255/85R17† (34 x 10)
285/70R17†
305/65R17† (32.6 x 12)

* requires removal of mud flaps and probably minor trimming
† requires trimming and may require body mount chop (click here for details on body mount chop), upper control arms, and/or increased backspacing.

Add 5 to the middle number for 16" wheels, subtract 5 for 18" wheels (265/75R16=265/70R17=265/65R18)

Havent gotten my triflow in yet. i have been using dry lube though. Also i put a lift (Coilovers) squeak also could be from that. Should i go back and put anti-sieze around my bolts (Bottom shocks mount, and top mount of strut?

Glad to hear it! Nice location, truck looks great too!

Try lubricating the lower eyelet of the shock then. That's all I got...

Anyone know much about the ride quality of this brand?? I am just looking for a quality ride since I do not do any trails. just beach sand.

If I got the Eibach T1 coils in front with Bilsteins, I was told I would be around 1.75" lift. Is it true the 1/4" spacer gives 1/2" lift?

I would like to lift the front between 2-2.5", since I'm not getting UCAs

1/4" spacer usually gets you around approx 1/2" lift according to everything I've read. 3/8 spacer gives 1/2-3/4" but you have to use extended studs.

I ended up going with heavier springs to accomidate the V8 and not use the spacer.
