You could probably get by with minimal trimming without them, but if you add spacers you'll have to move the liner forward, remove front mud flaps, and probably trim the front bumper. Just want to follow up, your advice was spot on. I got my bilsteins installed at the third notch and 265/65/18s installed with no trimming and no rubbing. Very close fit with the mud flaps still installed.

Ok daystar lift (2.5/1.5) gets installed on Tuesday, durateac 275/65/18 on Wednesday. Here is the question.

Do I need an alignment, my friend owns the tireshop where I am getting the treads at and he admits he is not a mechanic, but said he wouldn't waste his money on it...??

I ran 5100 rear shocks for several months. I lifted the vehicle and let the axle drop all the way down (the shocks are the limiting factor). At full extension I still had a little slack in the lines (not much, but enough). However, the extended lines are better quality than OEM so I plan to upgrade in the near future since they aren't too expensive. So, I guess my answer is you don't "have" to have them, but it would probably be worthwhile to do while you're having the other stuff installed.

Hey ARK_SWAM_RIDER, I just wanted to thank you for your pointers when I was looking for tires. I installed it yesterday and everything went smoothly.

For anyone who's wondering, this is my setup:
~ToyTec Coilovers in front, ToyTec Springs/Bilstein 5100 Shocks in the rear
~Spydertrax Wheel Spacers (1.25)
~Light Racing Upper Control Arms
~Swaybar relocate kit
~Diffdrop kit

And finally, Goodyear Wrangler Silent Armors 275/70R17 Load C

Install went (relatively) smooth, and as ASR stated, I needed minimal modifications to the wheel well with this lift/tire setup. I had to push in the wheel well about 3/4 to 1 inch. Also had to remove the OEM mud flaps. Didn't need to cut the bumper at all.

Just wanted to say for any readers out there, if you have any questions on lift and fitment, ASR is the man to ask!

Thanks to all you guys, always good to get feedback (especially positive)!

Any time you change height I would definitely recommend an alignment. It will be off, whether or not it's enough to make a difference depends on a lot of factors. With the new lift/tires, it's cheap enough that I wouldn't chance it.

Toytec Ultimate

MtnCrawler: I also installed the Ultimate kit, Light Racing UCR and in addition Spidertrax. You will find the upgrade confidence inspiring and vastly improve the stance of your 4Runner. I am still dialing in tire pressure with Cooper Discover TA3 265/70 17s and need to trim wheel wells.
Anyone have suggestions for off-road tire pressure with Cooper tires and standard rims?

Thanks for the feedback SBP!

The kit and UCA's are being installed tomorrow! My only regret is that I'm not doing the install myself. I've done plenty of my own car/moto work, but never suspension - AND I don't have any of the equipment (lifts/jacks) or time really to spend a weekend to do it. I know it would be a great learning experience, but it's not to be in my situation right now.

I'll be able to post up results soon!

Ok new day more problems, another shop installed the lift but disconnected xreas!!!

They are going to all labor for free and parts at wholesale...

So would u just go back to xreas? Or something else now that I has free labor and wholsale pricing. Xreas will cost me 700 for everything.

Any better ideas?

Say what. Why are you responsible for the damage the shop caused?
There may be more to this than I have read but if the shop was not replacing the xreas to begin with then the XREAS should be working when they get done with whatever it is they ae doing.

I had Armorology install a Daystar lift (I know I should have done it myself). Before we agreed on the work I discussed with Jed the concerns with XREAS system so we were both on the same page with damage to the system.

I remember reading another post where a shop had damaged the XREAS system and they agreed to replace the system at their cost, it seems like it was in Texas or Oklahoma

If the shop damaged the EREAS then the shop should be responsible.

Good price on these but they are not adjustable.
Personally I am not real impressed with Pro Comp products but that is just me and I dont have any experience with their products other than tires.

I am planning on changing to a Toytec system when the XREAS fail. More money but they have good products, they are a Colorado company and I know they stand behind what they sell.

Was there any discussion about xreas prior to the install? Personally, I think the shop should be fully responsible, I don't see why you should have to pay for their mistake.

It doesn't list the specifics, as long as it's for a 07-09 fj it should fit. I haven't seen anyone running that kit, so I can't guarantee it'll fit, but it definitely should.

This is a good note for all of us that still have the XREAS system.
Before having a shop do any suspension work we should discuss the complexity of the XREAS system and have a clear agreement that if they damage it they replace it. Even then they may not understand what they are getting into.

I talked to a few shops before I had my spacers installed. With some it was very clear that they were clueless about the XREAS system.
